🎤 VANTA 1.14 · Sing Along
🎤 VANTA 1.14 · Sing Along
Lyrics light up word by word. Turn the singer down and sing it yourself. Halloween came early.
1.14 is about the words. Lyrics now fill in as each word is sung, translate on your phone without a key, and sit right on the player as one quiet line. Then I added the thing I've wanted since I first saw it: a Sing button that takes the voice down so you can take over. Along the way your library got cleaner, your edits and remixes play again, and VANTA dressed up for the season.
✨ New
Sing
A mic button on the player lowers the singer, then takes them out. The first time, VANTA downloads a small voice model (about 39 MB) and separates the voice on your phone, a little ahead of where you are. It's new and I've only heard it on a test device so far, so it should work best on recent phones. It's in the car too.
Word-by-word lyrics
On songs that have them, each word fills in as it's sung instead of the whole line at once. Songs without word timing still scroll line by line like before.
The lyric line
The line being sung shows under the song title on the player. Tap it to open the full lyrics. You can turn it off in Settings.
Translate that works
Translate now runs on your phone: no key, no account, and it works offline once your language is downloaded. It tells you when lyrics are already in your language instead of doing nothing.
Aura that you can see
Each Aura mode in Settings now changes the player's backdrop: Silk Wave, Velvet Bars, Lyric Glow and Vinyl Room each have their own look, and Ambient stays calm.
Share as Picture
Share the song you're playing as a picture drawn in your player style, from the player or a song's menu.
Credits
A song's credits page: who wrote it, who produced it, who played on it, plus the label and release date, like the sleeve of a record.
Holiday touches
Around Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year, VANTA picks up a little of the season: a cobweb on the mini player, a warm glow, snow, soft lights, and a row of holiday mixes on Home. They're quiet, they stay out of the way, and you can turn them off in Settings.
Explicit switch
Turn explicit songs off and they're left out of search, and should stay out of albums, playlists, radio and Pulse too. On by default.
Your phone's music, your way
A switch for songs on this phone, and a choice of which folders to read. Ringtones, alarms, notification sounds, recordings and clips under 30 seconds stay out of your library no matter what.
Hide from autoplay
Hide a song or a whole artist from autoplay, radio and Pulse from the song's menu. Settings lists everything you've hidden, and a tap brings it back.
Sleep timer
The sleep timer fades out, and can stop at the end of the song instead of mid-word.
🔧 Fixed
Library
- Remixes, remasters and edits in your library should play again instead of saying the song wasn't found.
- Titles like "Eat Sleep Rave Repeat - Calvin Harris Edit 2013" should no longer swap the song and the artist.
- The same song imported from Spotify and Apple Music shows once, with your hearts and playlists kept.
- Albums and artists scroll as long lists, with a letter strip.
- Album tiles open the album.
Player
- VANTA opens with one splash and a full Home, and picks up where you paused with the right song.
- Play Next keeps the order you tapped.
- Removing a song from the queue can be undone.
- Lyrics have one view now instead of two.
- Player errors say what happened in plain words.
- FLAC shows its true bit depth.
- EQ should remember its settings per output: speaker, headphones, Bluetooth and car each keep their own.
- The tab bar's ring only turns while music plays.
Search and radio
- Search is cleaner, and band names like "Earth, Wind & Fire" stay whole.
- Radio stays tidier on its station.

❤️ Keep VANTA free

🎙️ VANTA 1.13 · Live and Direct
🎙️ VANTA 1.13 · Live and Direct
Pulse is a real DJ now. Songs you've played start in a second. Albums play without a gap.
1.13 is the biggest update yet. Pulse, the live DJ, got rebuilt around one idea: it stays on the artist you started from, talks like a host instead of a robot, and never goes quiet. Then I went after the things that make a player feel cheap: slow replays, gaps between album tracks, lists that make you tap "show more", a settings page that promised more than it knew. And VANTA now looks and works the same in the car and on the TV as it does on the phone.
✨ New
Pulse, the live DJ
Start Pulse from Radio, Home, the car or the TV. It plays a set around the artist you started from and their circle, and tells you why it picked each song. With a Gemini key it writes its own lines from real facts about the artist. Without one, it still speaks: a natural on-device voice, a one-time download offered in the Pulse panel, so nobody has to hear the phone's robot voice again.
Ask it for more energy, or something calmer, and it changes course on the next song. When the server is slow to answer, it fills from your own library instead of drifting to someone unrelated. Its lines are ready a song ahead, so the voice lands on time, and the music ducks under it instead of cutting out.
Pulse in the car
Android Auto has a Pulse card on Home and at the top of Radio. Say "play Pulse on VANTA" or "something upbeat" and it listens.
A new TV app
The TV screens were rebuilt from the ground up: big covers, a clear focus, calm motion, everything reachable with the remote. Pulse is on the TV too. Sign in on the TV with the same account as your phone and your library comes over.
Instant replays
A song you've played before starts from the copy on your phone instead of asking the server again. In my tests a replay that took 13 seconds now starts in under 5 on the emulator, and it should be about a second on a real phone.
Gapless albums
The next track of an album is loaded while the current one plays, so live records and albums that run together play straight through. Crossfade is still there if you want it; the DJ's crossfade now ends with its session instead of sticking around and breaking your albums.
A first launch that gets out of the way
No permission pop-ups on the first screen. VANTA asks for music access when you add music and for notifications on your first play. A welcome card offers Add your music, Find a song and Sign in.
Artist pages
An About card with the artist's photo and a short bio, grounded in real facts.
EQ A/B
A chip on the EQ page that bypasses your settings while you hold the comparison, so you can hear what the EQ is doing.
Haptics
Play, pause, skips, the heart and the tabs answer with a small click.
Sound Check, album-aware
With Sound Check on, an album is levelled as a whole, so the quiet track after a loud one stays quiet on purpose.
🔧 Fixed
Sound
- Quality is one honest readout everywhere: "Lossless · FLAC · 16-bit · 44.1 kHz", with Atmos and 360 named by their real codec. The output panel says what Android is doing to the signal, including resampling.
- The two quality options that said the same thing are one option now, "Best available". If you had "Dolby Atmos first", you're on Best available.
- On the phone speaker, Best available plays lossless stereo instead of folding an Atmos mix down. Headphones, Bluetooth, USB and the car still get Atmos and 360.
- In Android Auto, Best available should now play the hi-res stereo copy instead of Atmos or 360, so car audio stops stuttering and going quiet.
- More Atmos songs play as full Atmos, and Atmos decoding is steadier on the phone.
- Songs never play the wrong audio again when you replay an album: a bug could make every track of an album play the first track's sound.
- Replaying an album loads the whole album, not one song plus autoplay.
- An old "wrong thread" error that could show over the player during Pulse should be gone.
Player
- Songs no longer stop and start with "Getting your song ready" partway through. When a song's link runs out mid-play, it carries on from the same spot.
- When your queue runs out, the next song is found while the current one plays, so there's no long silence between songs, and a next song that fails to load no longer leaves the player stopped.
- Featured artists show in the player: "Olivia Rodrigo & Chappell Roan", not just the first name.
- "Earth, Wind & Fire" is no longer read as "Earth Wind feat. Fire".
- One accent colour on the controls; the cover's colour lives in the glow behind it.
Library
- Songs and Liked Songs are real lists now, with a fast scroller and an A-Z strip. No more "Show 100 more".
- Home keeps your place in Recently Played while the library loads.
- Search results are kept for ten minutes, so going back is instant.
Radio and autoplay
- When your queue runs out, what follows stays on your taste: the songs after "Tomboy" were Rico Nasty, Mahalia, Kari Faux and Leikeli47, and a Pink Floyd album is followed by Pink Floyd. No more drifting to someone unrelated.
- Pulse skips radio clips and previews that are far shorter than the record.
- Pulse's Next always plays the song it picked and waits for it, instead of doing nothing.
Server
- Songs start faster when one of my sources is having a bad day: a slow source gets less of a head start, and one that keeps hanging is rested for ten minutes instead of making every play wait on it.

❤️ Keep VANTA free
VANTA is just me, and the servers that find your songs cost money every month. This one took weeks of nights. If Pulse is keeping you company now, a Ko-fi goes straight into keeping it running and making it better. Thank you for listening, and for every bug report that made it into this one.
📻 VANTA 1.12 · Home Stereo
📻 VANTA 1.12 · Home Stereo
Real hardware on your home screen. Full Atmos on more songs. Less work in your pocket.
I wanted the home screen to feel like the shelf next to a record player, so 1.12 brings a set of widgets drawn as the gear each decade played music on. While I was in there I went after battery: VANTA now does a lot less while your screen is off.
✨ New
Decade widgets
Long-press your home screen, open Widgets and pick VANTA. There's a reel-to-reel, a turntable, a cassette deck, a CD player and four pocket players. They show the song, its cover and the time, the buttons work, and every press gives a small click. Each widget can have its own colours and name: tap Customize when you add one.
The 2000s player's wheel
In the 2000s player style, turning the click wheel now sets the volume, the way it did on the real thing. Press the centre to scrub through the song instead.
🔧 Fixed
Battery
- With the screen off, VANTA no longer refreshes widgets nobody can see, checks where the song is ten times a second, or works out the visualizer for a screen that isn't showing. In my tests it used about a third less processor time with the screen off. Widgets catch up the moment you turn the screen on, and the player still moves smoothly when it's open.
Sound
- More Dolby Atmos songs play as full Atmos.
- Atmos songs VANTA still can't fully read should play as 5.1 instead of failing.
- When you ask for 360 Reality Audio, more songs find their 360 version.
Widgets
- Widgets should now look right on Android 11 and older, and tapping one starts the music even when VANTA isn't open.

🚗 VANTA 1.11 · Drive Time
🚗 VANTA 1.11 · Drive Time
Your whole library in the car. Playlists play in order. Covers everywhere.
Android Auto in 1.10 still looked like a settings menu, and for a lot of you it was nearly empty: songs you imported but hadn't played yet never showed up in the car. 1.11 fixes both. I rebuilt the car screens from the ground up and tested them on my own phone with Android Auto, playlist by playlist.
✨ New
A real car screen
Android Auto now opens on four tabs: Home, Playlists, Library and Radio.
Home is covers, not lists. What's coming up next, what you played recently, your Liked Songs, Shuffle all, stations from the artists you play most, and your playlists, each under its own heading.
Playlists shows every playlist as a cover with its song count, with Liked Songs first. Library has your songs, artists and albums, with albums and artists as cover grids. Radio has stations for you first, then every genre, decade and mood.
Up next, in the car
The top of Home shows the songs coming up in your queue, so you can see where a playlist is going and jump ahead with one tap.
Your whole library
Every song in your library shows up in the car now, including ones you brought over from Spotify or Apple Music and haven't played yet. VANTA finds them when you tap them, the same way it does on the phone. If a song can't be found, it moves on to the next one instead of stopping.
🔧 Fixed
Android Auto
- Tap a song in a playlist or Liked Songs and Next plays the next song in that list. In my tests on my phone with Android Auto, a 48-song playlist played straight down the list.
- Songs no longer drop out of the queue because VANTA mistook them for something that isn't music, like a parody song. Next used to jump past them.
- Titles like "Here Comes The Sun - Remastered 2009" show the song's name in the car, not "Remastered 2009".
- Songs without cover art show a record icon instead of a warning sign.
- Counts say "1 song", not "1 songs".
Radio and autoplay
- When your queue runs out, the music that follows is based on the song that's playing now, not the one before it.
- It stays on that artist and artists like them. It no longer drifts to someone with a similar name, or to an artist who happens to share the song's title.
- When those artists turn up only a few songs, VANTA looks a little wider among similar artists, so Next always has somewhere to go.
- Next on the last song in your queue keeps the music going on a TV remote instead of doing nothing, and should do the same in the car.

VANTA is just me, and the servers that find your songs cost money every month. If VANTA rides along with you now, a Ko-fi goes straight into keeping it running and making it better. Thank you for listening, and for telling me when something in the car wasn't right. That's how this one happened.
🔄 VANTA 1.10 · In Sync
🔄 VANTA 1.10 · In Sync
Your Spotify and Apple Music libraries now stay in sync on their own. Songs start sooner. The app is a third of the size.
1.09 brought your library over. 1.10 keeps it that way. Turn sync on once and VANTA quietly checks back every few hours, so the playlists you keep building elsewhere keep showing up here. And while I was in there, I went after the things that make an app feel slow: songs that take too long to start, a Back button that loses your place, and a download that was far bigger than it needed to be.
✨ New
Keep in sync
In Settings > Connected Libraries, flip on Keep in sync for Spotify or Apple Music. When you open VANTA and a few hours have passed, it reads your library again in the background and should bring in what you've added since. It never interrupts you with a sign-in page, and the card tells you when it last synced. Sync now is there when you don't want to wait.
Playlists you imported before 1.10 are recognized by name, so syncing adds to them instead of making copies.
Search your library
The Library page has its own search now. Type a song, an artist or an album and it finds it in what you already have, without going out to the whole catalog.
Shuffle your library
One button on the Library page plays everything you have in a random order. It starts with a song VANTA already knows how to play, so you aren't left waiting on the first one.
Recently Added that makes sense
Recently Added now shows the songs and albums you just brought in. No more playlists mixed in, and no more an album showing up because one of its songs was added.
Pick the DJ's voice
Settings > Pulse AI Brain > Pulse Voice has eight AI voices to choose from. Tap one to hear a sample before you pick it. Check voice setup now actually asks the voice service right then and tells you which voice answered.
🔧 Fixed
Android Auto
- Tap a song in a playlist, album, artist or Liked Songs in the car and the queue should be that list, in order, so Next plays the next song in it instead of something from the rest of your library.
- Your playlists should show up in the car. Before, the Playlists section in Android Auto stayed empty.
Speed
- Playlist songs start in a few seconds. VANTA now finds the first songs of a playlist the moment you open it, instead of waiting for your tap. In my tests a tap went from about 14 seconds down to 3 to 7.
- Big queues no longer freeze the app. While a long list loaded into the queue, VANTA re-checked every song in it again and again, which could lock the screen for seconds and swallow your taps. In my tests, shuffling a 6,800-song library now starts in about 6 seconds and the app stays responsive the whole time. Long playlists and big Liked Songs lists should feel the same.
- Songs you've played recently are kept on the phone, and the start of the next song is fetched ahead. Playing a song again in my tests started in about 2 seconds instead of 4.
- When a song's stream gets stuck before it starts, VANTA should now try a fresh one after about 8 seconds instead of making you wait 20.
- Older phones should feel much lighter overall. VANTA used to re-check your whole library every time it opened and redraw whole screens on every song change. Both are gone.
Size
- The download is about 59 MB, down from 159 MB. It now ships only what Android phones and TVs with ARM chips need, which is nearly all of them. Intel-based Chromebooks can no longer install it.
Navigation
- Back takes you to where you were, with your place kept, instead of jumping around or looping. Back from a tab takes you Home.
Search
- Band names with a comma, like Earth, Wind & Fire or Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, show in full again. They were being cut to "Earth", which also let a long remix beat the original "September".
Library
- Audiobooks no longer show up as songs. Long audiobook files on your phone are left out of the library.
- Songs you delete from your phone leave your library the next time VANTA opens.
- Add to Playlist from a song's menu adds that song. It used to add whatever was playing at the time, or nothing at all.
- Songs you remove from your library stay removed, including files on your phone, and a removed song stops playing instead of carrying on.
- Remove and Favorite work on songs whose name looks a little different in the player than in your library.
- Starting a new playlist or album no longer picks up extra songs meant for the one you were playing before.
- Tapping a song from your phone should always play that song. A mix-up between two kinds of song numbers could make a tap play a different file, like a voicemail.
- Titles like "Song - Remastered 2009" should show the song's name, not "Remastered 2009".
- Songs with a "(feat. ...)" in the title are matched like the same song without it, so more of your imported songs should be found.
Pulse DJ
- When the server is slow to answer its first picks, Pulse should stay on the artist you started from instead of drifting to someone unrelated.
- The DJ should never read its own instructions out loud again. Old recordings from before the fix are cleared.
- When an AI voice is set up and it can't answer, the DJ stays quiet instead of switching to the phone's robot voice.
- When one AI voice model hits its daily limit, VANTA moves to another one instead of going silent.
- The Taste profile list and the strip under the player are gone, so Radio and the player are calmer.

🧳 VANTA 1.09 · Carry-On
Your whole library. One sign-in. Every playlist, every liked song, in under a minute.
This is the update I've wanted to ship since day one. Moving to a new music app used to mean starting over: rebuilding playlists by hand, hunting down songs one at a time, giving up halfway. Not anymore. Sign in to Spotify or Apple Music right inside VANTA, choose what you want, and your music is here.
✨ New
Bring your Spotify library. All of it.
Tap Connect Spotify in Add music and sign in on Spotify's own page. VANTA reads your Liked Songs and every playlist you have, then lays them out so you can bring over all of them, a few of them, or just one.
No export website. No developer account. No CSV files. Nothing to install. Just sign in.
On my own library it read Liked Songs and 17 playlists, almost 7,700 songs, in under a minute.
Bring your Apple Music library too
Connect Apple Music works the same way: sign in on Apple's own page and VANTA lists every playlist, your Favorite Songs and the songs in your library. On my phone it read 56 lists in about three minutes.
Your likes come with you
Spotify's Liked Songs land in VANTA's Liked Songs, newest first, exactly the way you left them. Not buried in a playlist. Hearted. Apple Music's Favorite Songs should come in the same way.
One song, once
A song in five of your playlists is one song in your library, and VANTA cleans up duplicates an earlier import left behind. Bring in Spotify and then Apple Music and the songs they share should land once too, even when one calls it "Remastered" or "feat." and the other doesn't. Slowed, live and remix versions stay their own songs, because they are.
Playlists you can shape
Rename a playlist. Remove songs from it. Sort any playlist, all your songs or your Liked Songs by title, artist or when you added them. VANTA remembers how you like each list.
Your library at a glance
The Library page now shows how many songs, likes and playlists you have, and every import tells you how many songs your library holds when it's done.
Apple Music playlist links should now bring in up to 10,000 songs instead of stopping at 300.
🔧 Fixed
Sound
- Music should now play as loud in the car as other apps. Some car connections were mistaken for the phone's own speaker, which turned the music down 6 dB to protect the speaker.
- After the DJ talks over a song, the music comes back to full volume. It could stay turned down.
- Sound Check now says what it does: it lowers every song by the same amount. Settings > Audio shows at the top whether VANTA is playing at full level, and if not, why.
Library
- Voicemails and voice recordings no longer show up as songs. Some phones label them as music; VANTA now leaves them out and clears away any an earlier scan picked up. The files on your phone aren't touched.
- The heart in the player now shows when a song is in your Liked Songs.
- Fixed a crash that could happen when a big library changed while it was loading.
Looks
- Add music is one calm page: Spotify, Apple Music, a playlist link, and everything else tucked under Import from a file.
- Connected Libraries shows one clean card per service with what came over, plus a way to bring it in again or sign out.

📼 VANTA 1.08 · Rewind (build 32)
Pick your decade. Play your music on a 60s reel-to-reel, a 70s turntable, an 80s cassette deck, a 90s CD player or a 2000s pocket player with a click wheel that really works. The queue slides up from the bottom, swipes skip songs, and albums play straight through.
✨ New
Player styles, in Settings > Display > Player style. Six players, each drawn live with your song's cover on it. The reels and the record turn while the music plays and coast to a stop when you pause, and the tonearm lifts off the record. Tap the player's name under it to flip to the next decade.
The 2000s pocket player is a real player. Turn the wheel to scrub, press the centre to pause, left and right for previous and next, and MENU to close it.
The whole app wears your decade: fonts, colours and textures change with the style you pick, down to the mini player and the tab bar.
Colours follow the music. VANTA takes on the colours of the cover that's playing and glows gently with the beat. You can turn it off in Settings > Display.
A new queue. Up next waits at the bottom of the player. Drag it up to see everything coming, and drag it down or press Back to close it.
Swipes. On the mini player, swipe up to open the player, left for the next song and right for the previous one. In the player, swipe the cover up for the queue, down to close, and left or right to skip.
A turntable widget for your home screen, with a spinning record and a tonearm that lifts when you pause.
New mixes on Home: Daily Mix, On Repeat, Hidden Gems, Time Machine and New From Your Artists, plus Just Landed radio for this week's new songs.
Playlists show a mosaic of their first four covers.
🔧 Fixed
Playback
- Albums and playlists play straight through in order, even right after a radio station. Before, the station could keep adding its own songs and push the rest of the album out.
- The first Next after starting a playlist no longer gets lost.
- After you close the app, Next and Previous pick up where you left off, and a station comes back as the same station instead of a long list of old songs.
- EQ now works on 24-bit Hi-Res songs too.
Lyrics
- Radio lyrics no longer get stuck on the previous song.
Search
- The original song stays on top. A cover you once played no longer takes over the search for that title.
- Playing the top result no longer queues up a pile of covers after it.
Looks
- The animated players run smoothly. They stuttered badly before.
- Covers show their real colours. A bug had swapped them for made-up ones.
- The launch screen is dark instead of a white flash.
- Widgets only show quality details VANTA actually knows about the song.

🌊 VANTA 1.07 · Flow State (build 27)
🌊 VANTA 1.07 · Flow State (build 27)
One player for everything, and it glows with your music. Home is calm, with two stations made for you.
The last Home tried to show too much at once. This one starts over: fewer things on screen, bigger covers, and the music you care about right at the top.
✨ New
A new player
- The song's colors fill the whole screen in a soft, slowly moving glow, and the cover floats on top of it. No boxes, no clutter.
- Songs, stations and Pulse all play in the same player now. When a station is on, one quiet line under the song says which station it is and why this song came on, with thumbs up, thumbs down and Ask Pulse right there.
- The controls are simple: big previous, play and next, and four small icons for lyrics, sound, cast and the queue. Lyrics use the same controls.
- Sound quality shows as one small tag, like "Dolby Atmos · 48 kHz".
A calmer Home
- Home opens on Top Picks for You: big covers you swipe through, then Recently Played, More Like the artist you play most, New Releases and Playlists for You. That's it.
- Your Station starts Pulse with songs you love and new ones like them.
- Discovery Station finds artists close to what you play that aren't in your library yet, and plays them endlessly.
- The tab bar is just icons now. The tab you're on sits in a soft ring that takes the colors of the song that's playing and glides when you switch.
Search and browsing
- Genre cards are dark and photographic instead of bright color blocks.
- Songs without artwork now find their real cover.
- The top result no longer shows up twice.
- Daily discover tells you why in a few words, like "For fans of Victoria Monét".
Bringing your music over
- Add music opens with your Spotify library first. Sign in to Spotify right inside VANTA and it should bring your playlists in on its own. It's new, so if it gives you trouble, tell me on Discord.
- Google and Facebook sign-in buttons are hidden there, because they don't work inside apps. Use your Spotify email or Apple.
🔧 Fixed
- VANTA should no longer close the moment it opens on some vivo phones. Thank you to the listener who sent me their problem log, it showed me exactly what was wrong.
- More songs play. I fixed a problem on my server that made it give up on songs it could actually find, so songs that failed before (like "No Surprises") play again.
- When a song really can't be found right now, VANTA should say so in plain words and move on to the next one instead of stopping.
- Leaving a station's player with Back no longer stops the music.
- Radio shows the same mini player as every other tab instead of a second player.
- If VANTA ever closes the moment it opens, it now leaves a problem log in Downloads/VANTA, even when it fails during start-up. Send that file to me on Discord.
- The mini player is solid now, so song titles no longer show through it.
- Text scrolling under the status bar no longer peeks through at the top.
- Long lines that wrapped awkwardly (the Pulse card, empty Library, empty queue) fit on one line.
- Settings, sound quality and file info use plain words.

VANTA has no ads and no subscription, and I want to keep it that way. It's just me building it, and the servers that make streaming work cost money every month. If the new player puts on something you love, a coffee on Ko-fi goes straight into keeping it running.

🌅 VANTA 1.06 · Afterglow (build 24)
🌅 VANTA 1.06 · Afterglow (build 24)
Every screen glows with the song you're playing. Pulse starts in seconds and tells you why it picked each song.
This is the biggest change VANTA has had. I rebuilt how it looks so it feels like one calm, warm place to listen, and spent the rest of the time making Pulse feel like a real DJ.
✨ New
A new look
- The whole app is lit by your music. The cover of the song that's playing glows softly behind the top of every screen and fades into black. It shifts as songs change, and stays readable even with bright white covers.
- Home opens with one big cover: the song you're playing, the last one you played, or today's best new release, with Play and Drive right under it.
- Jump back in shows your recent albums as covers you can tap.
- The mini player and tab bar take on the song's colors.
- One look everywhere: the same headings, spacing, buttons and type on every tab, Settings included, with the clutter removed.
- Search for an artist and you get their real photo and their own songs first.
- Album and playlist pages take their color from the cover, with one short line of facts and clean song rows.
Pulse, your DJ
- A Pulse card on Home starts your DJ with one tap.
- Live DJ opens with a song you already love, so music starts in seconds.
- Pulse shows why it picked each song, like "You keep coming back to Kehlani" or "If you like Victoria Monét, you'll like Kehlani", and every few songs it says why out loud.
- With your own AI key (Settings → Pulse AI & Sources), Pulse writes its own opening and says it in a natural voice. What you read on screen is what you hear.
- The Pulse screen is cleaner: big buttons for Ask Pulse, Stay here, Change it up and Never play, sound quality in plain words, and song titles that never overlap.
🔧 Fixed
- Imported playlists keep every song, and a song that hadn't been matched yet plays when you tap it.
- Pressing Live DJ after reopening the app could leave you in silence. It starts the music now.
- Test connection for Pulse AI could spin forever. It answers in seconds.
- A saved AI key could disappear after a restart on some phones. It stays now.
- Pulse's voice could read its own instructions out loud. It only says the line now.
- Pulse no longer promises one artist's song and then plays another.
- Settings no longer promises things it doesn't do.
- Daily picks skip holiday songs outside December.

🎙️ VANTA 1.04 · On Air (build 19)
🎙️ VANTA 1.04 · On Air (build 19)
Pulse is a DJ now. It picks up from what you're playing, builds sets around you, talks between songs, and one tap gets you a different set.
A lot of you asked for something like Spotify's DJ, but more personal. This is my first real go at it. Thank you for the ideas, and for telling me plainly when something felt off.
✨ New
- Pulse is your DJ. Tap PULSE at the top of the player and press Start Pulse. It starts from the song that's on, then plays sets of up to seven songs: an artist you play a lot, something new, a mood that fits the time of day. Each set has a short spoken intro, and every few songs Pulse says something about what's coming up, like the album and the year it came out. It works without an AI key, using your phone's own voice.
- The queue tells you why. Under Up Next you'll see the set that's playing and why Pulse picked it, the next set coming up, and a short note under songs ("From Love Deluxe, 1992").
- Don't like what's coming? Press Retry in the queue. The song you're on keeps playing and everything after it is swapped for a different set.
- Type to Pulse things like "skip", "more like this", "slow it down", "something for a run", "play more like Fleetwood Mac" or "what is this?". The mic button should work too on phones with voice typing.
- Pulse remembers. Artists you skip twice drop out, and an artist you give a thumbs up leads the next set. It also tries not to repeat itself.
- Songs without artwork get their real cover, matched by artist and title, so a song never shows someone else's cover.
- Settings → Support VANTA now has a wall thanking the people who keep VANTA running.
🔧 Fixed
- The queue updates as soon as songs are added, instead of waiting for the next song.
- Pulse AI should no longer stop working when Google retires a Gemini model. VANTA now picks a current model for your key on its own.
