V1.4.4
Flexible password export 📤
The Export button in the Passwords section is now a menu:
- Export Selected — just the rows you've picked
- Export All Shown — everything currently visible
- Export a whole section — Website Logins, Wi-Fi Passwords, or App Passwords in one click
Plus easier selection:
- Options ▸ Select All / Deselect All
- Right-click a section header to Select All or Export that section
V1.4.3
Faster & tidier Passwords 🔑
- Much faster keychain decryption. The per-item AES-GCM now uses a single hardware CTR pass plus 64-bit GHASH and decrypts across all CPU cores — the Passwords list loads in about a second instead of stalling.
- Collapsible sections. Website Logins, Wi-Fi Passwords and App Passwords are shown as accordions that start collapsed — click anywhere on a section header (not just the arrow) to expand it.
- No more stray preselection of a hidden system item when the list opens.
V1.4.1
Cleaner Passwords section 🧹
The keychain contains ~1,000 Apple/OS-internal entries that aren't real credentials — iCloud Keychain sync material, Apple ID auth tokens, Protected Cloud Storage blobs, app device-IDs and A/B-test configs. These were cluttering the list.
Now every item is classified and the Passwords section shows only genuine credentials by default:
- Website logins (real sites + usernames + passwords)
- Wi-Fi passwords
- App passwords
Everything else is grouped as system and hidden. Use the sort menu's "Show system items" toggle to reveal them if you ever need to.
The list is now clustered by type for easier scanning.
V1.4.0
Passwords (Keychain) viewer 🔐
Encrypted backups now include a new Passwords section that decrypts and displays what's saved in the iPhone's keychain:
- Wi-Fi passwords for known networks
- Website & app logins (account + password)
- Auth tokens and generic passwords
Each value has a one-click copy button. Deleted (tombstoned) entries and internal sync bookkeeping are filtered out so the list stays clean.
This only works on encrypted backups (the keychain is never included in unencrypted ones) and requires the backup password. Everything is decrypted locally on your Mac.
Under the hood
Per-item keys are unwrapped from the backup keybag (RFC 3394), then each item's payload is AES-256-GCM decrypted and parsed from its DER attribute set — verified end-to-end against a real iOS 16 encrypted backup.
V1.3.2
iPhone Backup Explorer V1.3.2
- Accounts now show mail and server settings: incoming/outgoing server, port, SSL, login and protocol, decoded from the accounts database. Outgoing SMTP details (stored on hidden child accounts) are folded into their parent account.
Universal (Apple Silicon + Intel), signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

V1.3.1
iPhone Backup Explorer V1.3.1
Two new sections, promoted from the Home domain databases:
- Accounts — the accounts configured on the device (Apple ID, iCloud, Facebook, Game Center, mail, and more) with usernames and type.
- App Permissions — which apps were granted Camera, Contacts, Photos, Microphone, Motion, Location, iCloud and other permissions, with allowed/denied status.
Both appear automatically when present and export to CSV.

V1.3.0
iPhone Backup Explorer V1.3.0
- Wi-Fi Networks viewer: every known/joined network with its router (BSSID) and last-joined date, merged from the system Wi-Fi config files. Exportable to CSV.
- Readable plists everywhere: any property list now opens as an expandable key/value tree (nested dictionaries and arrays, dates, and binary data shown as hex), with a Raw Text toggle — for every domain, not just Wi-Fi.
Universal (Apple Silicon + Intel), signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

V1.2.2
iPhone Backup Explorer V1.2.2
- Fixed the WhatsApp view: it now lists all chats grouped per person and lets you pick between them, instead of showing "No Messages" with a single thread on the right.

V1.2.1
iPhone Backup Explorer V1.2.1
Photos improvements based on feedback.
- Renamed Photo Metadata → Photos.
- The gallery now shows the actual photos and videos in the backup (camera roll originals, downloaded iCloud photos, and edits), instead of listing metadata rows — so it no longer shows empty slots for iCloud-only items that were never downloaded. Capture date, location, album and favourite are matched onto each file where available.
- Fixed overlapping thumbnails: every cell is a fixed square and the image is clipped to it.

V1.2.0
iPhone Backup Explorer V1.2.0
A big data-viewing and export release, validated against a real iOS 16 backup.

- Overview dashboard — the new default screen: device summary, file/size/photo/video counts, clickable "what's inside" chips, storage-by-category bars, and the largest domains.
- Photos gallery — a thumbnail grid grouped by day, with album / favorites / location filters, multi-select, per-photo EXIF (camera, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter, dimensions) and an inline map for geotagged shots.

- Multi-select, sorting, and export-selected in every data viewer.
- Best-effort Health summary when the health database is present.
Export
- Messages & WhatsApp as formatted HTML transcripts with inline images, plus Export All Conversations.
