Repository navigation
Inbox
Fast Lane reads your GitHub notifications for three things aimed at you, on any repository you can see, whether you watch it or not:
-
Review requests (
review_requested): someone asks for your review, directly or through a team. -
Mentions (
mentioned): someone @-mentions you, or a team you're on, in a PR or issue, its description, or a comment. -
Assignments (
assigned): you're assigned a PR or issue.
Before acting on one, Fast Lane checks it still applies: the PR or issue is still open, your review is still requested, the comment really mentions you (@you-bot doesn't count as @you), you're still assigned. Your own comments never count.
Items from repos you don't watch appear on the Events tab too, and stay there for two weeks without new activity. Sessions on them clone the repo, or use your local checkout if you have one.
The inbox is on and runs Claude without asking. Nothing is pre-approved, so Claude does the work and then asks you before it posts anything:
- Review request: reads the PR, checks CI, runs the tests if useful, drafts a review, and asks before submitting it.
- Mention: reads the thread and the code involved, drafts a reply (or a change, on your own PR), and asks before posting or pushing.
- Assignment: fixes the issue on a new branch with a test and asks before pushing and opening the PR, or drafts questions if the issue is unclear.

Add a rule for the trigger with an allow list:
"pull_request:review_requested": { "allow": ["review"] },
"pull_request:mentioned": { "allow": ["comment"] },
"issue:mentioned": { "allow": ["comment"] }A rule for one of these keys can also filter, for example "skip_bots": true, or "skip_labels": ["discussion"] to leave some threads to you. When a key has a rule, only items the rule accepts auto-run.
On the Rules tab or the Settings tab, i / enter on Inbox cycles through:
- on, auto-run (default): runs Claude as above.
- full auto: runs Claude hands-off; it reviews, replies and acts without asking. See Full auto.
- on, list only: shows review requests, mentions and assignments on the Events tab for you to start.
- off: doesn't read notifications.
In config.json that's "inbox": { "enabled": true, "auto_run": true }.
- The first time the inbox is read, it only records the time, so older notifications never fire.
- Fast Lane reads notifications whether or not you've read them on GitHub, and never marks them read.
- Reading notifications needs a token with the
repoornotificationsscope. The Settings tab checks this. - On repos you watch, a comment that mentions you and also matches a
commentedrule fires only once.
