First Steps
The header shows the connection state. With Connect automatically on (the default) the app connects as soon as exactly one DCA75 is present; otherwise press Connect. Once connected the header shows the unit's serial number and firmware, and the footer shows the battery, the 12 V rail, Vref and the calibrated sense resistor.
The unit powers itself off after a few minutes idle. Press its button or replug it and the app reconnects.
Clip a component into the red, green and blue leads (any order) and press Test. The result card shows:
- the component type and flags (NPN/PNP, silicon/germanium, Darlington, body diode…);
- the pinout by lead color, exactly as on the unit's display;
- all measured parameters.
The unit is silent for the few seconds a test takes; that is normal.
A test started with the button on the unit appears as a draft: the same card with Save and Discard buttons. Tag it, then save it (Enter) or discard it (Backspace). Several drafts queue in a tray so you can work through a bag of parts. Tests started from the app's Test button are saved immediately. Both behaviors can be swapped in Settings.
Under the result: part number (type it and press Enter to create the part), bin (a lot, bag or batch of that part), a free label, notes and a star. Tags save on their own.
Once a reading is tagged into a part or bin, the right‑hand panel shows where it falls: its percentile among its siblings for each headline parameter, with a histogram.
After a saved identify the app can run extra measurements automatically (Settings):
- DCA55‑equivalent figures for transistors;
- reverse leakage for diodes and for a transistor's collector–base junction.

Settings → Demo device runs the app against a simulated DCA75 built from real captured parts (a 2N5088, an MP40A germanium PNP, a J201, a silicon diode and a germanium diode). Identify, unit‑button drafts, every sweep and the follow‑up measurements all work. A banner shows which part is "clipped in", with Press unit button and Next part controls. Demo readings are recorded under a demo session; Delete demo readings in Settings removes them all.
