Coding Companion 2.0.0-beta.16
Coding Companion for RevolutionEHR 2.0.0-beta.16.
What's new in beta.16
- Packages you bring back use your current service list. Restoring an Earlier version, or bringing a Package back from Recently deleted, now matches its services to your practice's current service list, as Save and Import already did. A Package kept for weeks no longer carries service entries your practice has since changed.
- Behind the scenes. How the extension handles plan lines, Packages files and applying was reorganized and given many more tests. Nothing should look or work differently; if anything does, please report it.
Download: Coding-Companion-Setup.exe (always the newest version), and the Beta Guide PDF below.
Packages: Coding-Companion-Packages.json, to import in Package Library. The Setup program no longer pre-loads them.
First install: run the Setup program and follow the steps page it opens in Edge, then click Import Packages… in the Library and choose the Packages file.
Updating: close any Package Library or Builder tabs, run the new Setup program, click Reload under Coding Companion in edge://extensions, then close and reopen every RevolutionEHR tab. Your Packages are kept.
Windows and Edge warn about downloaded programs that are not widely used: in Edge choose Keep, and in Windows "More info", then "Run anyway".
Coding Companion 2.0.0-beta.15
Coding Companion for RevolutionEHR 2.0.0-beta.15.
What's new in beta.15
- A plan line can bring forward the previous plan lines. In the Builder, under a diagnosis, choose Add "Pull forward previous plan lines" (or select an existing plan line and tick that option in its settings). Its text box shows the label, greyed out, because it has no text of its own. In the Coding Companion it is a checkbox like any other plan line, with Default on or Default off. When it is ticked, the Companion opens that diagnosis's View CPI History in RevolutionEHR and brings forward only the General plan lines from the most recent earlier encounter. Recall plan lines are not pulled forward (to create a recall plan, use a plan line's Checkout Task option), and the finishing report says when any were left behind, or when no previous plan lines exist for that diagnosis. A line whose text is already under the diagnosis is not written twice. A diagnosis can have one pull-forward line. A Packages file that uses it can't be imported into beta.14 or older.

Coding Companion 2.0.0-beta.14
Coding Companion for RevolutionEHR 2.0.0-beta.14.
What's new in beta.14
- A plan line can tick RevolutionEHR's Checkout Task box. In the Builder, select a plan line and tick Checkout Task under Default on / Default off. When the Coding Companion writes that line, it ticks the Checkout Task box on RevolutionEHR's Add Care Plan Item form. There is nothing to do in the Companion. A Packages file that uses this can't be imported into beta.13 or older (a file that doesn't use it still can).
- The Builder keeps your lists when you switch modes. Choosing "Always this code" or "Clinician searches" on a diagnosis, or "Always this code" on a CPT code, no longer throws away its option list: switch back and it returns (until you close the Builder tab).
- Library notes sit under their buttons. A Refresh or Check message (such as "No patient encounter is open…") no longer appears in a second column off to the right on a wide window.
- Cleaner status line. Save's "Its codes aren't checked in RevolutionEHR yet…" note goes away once Check codes has run.

- A CPT code can start unticked. In the Builder, each service has an In the Companion setting, Default on or Default off, beside Code applied. A default-off service is added only if the clinician ticks it under Customize this package. A Packages file that uses this can't be imported into beta.12 or older (a file that doesn't use it still can).

Coding Companion for RevolutionEHR 2.0.0-beta.12.
What's new in beta.12
- Every plan line has a checkbox. There is no more choice between "always added" and "checkbox", and no checkbox labels: the Companion shows each plan line itself with a checkbox under its diagnosis. The Builder sets each line to Default on or Default off. Existing Packages convert automatically: lines that were default off stay off, and every other line is default on.
- Packages exported by this version can't be imported into beta.11 or older.

Coding Companion for RevolutionEHR 2.0.0-beta.11.
What's new in beta.11
- Add a diagnosis on its own. A new search box at the top of the Coding Companion adds diagnoses to the encounter with no plan lines, CPT codes or Package: search, pick one or several, then press Add to encounter. See "Adding a diagnosis on its own" in the Coding Companion chapter.
- "Close and reopen the tab" replaces "press F5" in every message and in this guide. After an update, or whenever the Companion asks, close the RevolutionEHR tab and open it again.
- A tab that has lost its link to the extension says so. The Companion asks once more by itself, then shows "Coding Companion lost its connection in this tab. Close and reopen the tab."
- Plan lines are easier to read in the Companion. A Package's details and the confirm screen keep the line breaks typed in a plan line, and a dashed line separates one plan line from the next.

Coding Companion 2.0.0-beta.9
Coding Companion for RevolutionEHR 2.0.0-beta.9.
What's new in beta.9
- Safer when you switch encounters while applying. If you press Apply and open another encounter before applying starts, nothing is written to the one you opened. If you switch while a form is filled in, the Companion now cancels that form before stopping, so nothing is left for a Save click on the other chart.
- A step that timed out keeps RevolutionEHR to itself until it finishes. Meanwhile Check codes, Refresh and a new apply in that tab say to wait or close and reopen the tab, instead of working the same screens at the same time.
- Saving a Package says what it is doing. The Save button reads "Saving…", then "Checking codes…", with a line beside it saying the Package is saved and that you will go back to the Library when the check is done. With no patient encounter open in RevolutionEHR, the Library then says the codes still need checking and how.
- Everyday words work in diagnosis search where CMS uses another term:
hyperopia(hypermetropia),stye(hordeolum),floaters(vitreous opacities),lazy eye(amblyopia). - Diagnosis search ignores punctuation between words:
glaucoma - rightfinds the same codes asglaucoma right. - The Library stays usable if part of it can't be read (for example Earlier versions); it says what couldn't be read above the list instead of hiding every Package.
- Check codes, Save and Refresh find your RevolutionEHR tab faster when another RevolutionEHR tab is open but not answering.
- Copy report buttons say whether copying worked.

- Diagnosis search is less strict. Type words from the description in any order, or just the start of each word:
diabetes type 2 mod withoutfinds the moderate nonproliferative retinopathy codes. Before, you had to type CMS's exact wording. - Common abbreviations work in diagnosis search, such as
ARMD,POAG,NIDDM,NPDR,ERMandOD/OS/OU:poag od mildfinds H40.1111. This applies in the Builder and in the Companion's search box. - CPT search knows everyday names for tests and procedures, such as
inflammadry,tearlab,oct,hvf,lipiflow,gonioandpachy.

Coding Companion 2.0.0-beta.7
Coding Companion for RevolutionEHR 2.0.0-beta.7.
What's new in beta.7
- Opening another encounter while applying now stops the apply. Before, it carried on writing into whichever encounter was then on screen. Now nothing is written to the one you opened, and the report says Stopped: another encounter was opened. and lists what went into the first encounter, so you can finish there.
- Each encounter gets a fresh Companion. Going straight from one encounter to the next no longer carries over ticked Packages or changes in Coding Preview.
- Check codes and Refresh don't run during an apply. Clicked in the Library while the Companion is applying in RevolutionEHR, they stop at once and say to try again when it has finished, instead of working the same RevolutionEHR screens at the same time.
- Applying and Check codes are a little faster.
- Fixes: a Package's Earlier versions in the Builder are kept for 30 days from when they were replaced (before, an old Package could lose them at once); importing with Replace entire set now matches services to your service list, as Merge does; Library and Builder tabs saving at the same moment no longer lose one of the changes; busy buttons no longer stay stuck after an error, and Manage Packages says why if it can't open the Library.
