  • The title screen's movie works again. When it started on its own after a while at the title, it could crash or freeze the game: it began before its own audio thread was running (#71).
  • No more black world at some resolutions. The world drew black, with only the HUD and a grey band, when the game's resolution matched the display buffers on one side only: at 4K on Linux, and on Windows at resolutions such as 1080p on a 1920x1200 or 2560x1080 screen. Scenes now use the display buffers only when both sides match (#77).
  • Less video memory over a session. Render targets and textures the game had already replaced were kept, so video memory grew with every area until a card could run out (a 12 GB card did on a 4K tour). They are freed now: after twelve areas at 1080p, about 1 GB less is in use (#80).
  • Shader caches survive updates. Since v0.2.17 every update rebuilt them. Now only an update that changes the shader translator does, so most updates start as fast as the version before. This one does change it, so its first start rebuilds them once, and "Building shaders: N left" shows at the top right until they are done. Waiting at the title until it goes away gives the smoothest start: about half a minute on a Steam Deck, a few seconds on most PCs (#83).
  • Most pixel shaders are lifted. 3,068 of the game's 3,209 now run as ordinary per-pixel Vulkan shaders instead of emulating the PS4's GPU. The picture is the same, and at 4K the GPU needs up to 1.7 ms less per frame (#67).
  • Under the hood. A test tool measures places in the game the same way on every run, including two of the heaviest to draw, Nightmare of Mensis and Laurence's staircase. It checked the changes above (#63).
