  • Faster, steadier frames. The game's job threads no longer queue on one lock. At 30 and 60 frames come evenly, after loads too, and an alt-tab no longer ends occlusion culling (#139, #148, #152, #163, #164, #171).
  • 120 fps, and the right speed. Frame rate offers 120, and physics, ragdolls and enemy steering no longer run fast at 90 and Uncapped; sprints keep their speed above 90 and jumps no longer carry farther at 60. The camera is the game's own at every rate (Kyo's retune: BBHOST_CAMERA_TUNING=fps++) (#116).
  • Effects at any frame rate. Above 30 effects last as long as at 30, flicker and grass sway at 30's pace, and motion stays smooth; they emit as densely as at 60 updates a second, 30 fps included (effect_steps = "30" and effect_emission = "30" under [video] restore the original). The GPU particles are back (arena dust, lamp sparks, Cainhurst's snow), and effects no longer flicker while the GPU is busy (Kyo's fix) (#116, #139, #153, #155, #156, #158, #162-#166).
  • Shaders compiled on your PC. The game's shaders, compute included, are decompiled to HLSL and compiled on your PC by the bundled DXC. The translator changed: the first start builds the shaders again ("Building shaders: N left") and compiles their HLSL behind it, on an integrated GPU only during title and loading screens. Compile shaders now in the setup window's Shaders tab does it all first (1.5-2.5 minutes). F10's Shaders setting goes back to Lifted (#116, #148, #153).
  • Steam Deck. Take the new kit's bbhost-steamdeck.toml too: it imports the game's memory as needed, 2.7 GB of host heap where whole imports take 4.5, and reaches the world 3 s sooner. The Nightmare of Mensis at 60 fps and 960x600 makes 57.5-58.5, above v0.2.18's 56-57 (#149, #171).
  • Integrated GPUs and small cards. Under Windows an integrated GPU imports only what it draws from and gives the rest back: a Radeon 680M shows 4.4-4.8 GB of shared GPU memory at a Central Yharnam lamp at 1080p. An RTX 4070 held to 4 GB keeps 60 fps at 1080p, even in the Nightmare of Mensis (#116, #162-#166, #171, #173).
  • AMD and Intel. AMD cards without sparse binding no longer fill video memory with 1 GB vertex mirrors (tested at 8 GB: the Nightmare of Mensis holds 60 fps), and rendering keeps to the Vulkan rules in a dozen places only NVIDIA's driver forgave (#156, #162).
  • Crashes and hangs. Fixed: a rare crash on loading screens, a GPU hang entering the Forbidden Woods, and a memory leak that froze the game for 0.4 s after about 85 minutes. A rare crash arriving at Rom's lake from Fishing Hamlet is guarded against (#116, #139, #164, #173).
  • Lighter on the server. While nothing happens the game asks for invites once every 25 s, and an invite still arrives the moment it is sent. The play log goes up every 30 s instead of 5 (#173).
  • New options. Eight more resolutions (16:9, 16:10 and 4:3), a Memory counter in F10, Tooling and logging in the setup window, and 19 community patches, most of them Kyo's, in its Patches tab, off by default (gameplay ones mark you modded online). Uncapped with V-Sync off no longer caps the title and main menu (#139, #148, #165).
  • Smaller fixes. Chromatic aberration turns off on Windows, the Bloodletter's L2 works above 30 fps, the Boss Rush survives slow loads, and characters without a server id ask for one (#87, #139, #162). C library fixes (#92, #118); setup window scaling on Wayland (#79).
