Strategy WIP: Gathering Gender

Can we 'standardize' a way to collect gender (say in a drupal module) that allows for non-binary inclusion, accurate reporting (for % of employees types of reports) but is also not exclusive and oppressive?

I think that's an interesting technical problem and one that we might be able to contribute a solution to since so many of us are engineers.

HRC.org (the final link) provides an inclusive example for collecting inclusive data.
