MPR for Ensemble-Stat Tool

Hello,

And thank you for your question. For an output from the Ensemble-Stat tool similar to MPR, I'll direct your attention to the ORANK line type. This is analogous to the MPR line type output, but specific to ensembles.

As for input, the ORANK and MPR line types can be used in the Stat-Analysis tool for aggregation and and statistical generation. More on the Stat-Analysis tool can be found here.

As per documentation, we cannot provide ORANK line type using python embedding. I know that MPR can be provided. Is there a way I can use ORANK in Stat-Analysis using Python?

You are correct, the documentation indicates that only MPR line type can be passed in via Python. However, after a brief chat with our chief engineer it seems like we can pass in ORANK line type. He provided the following example, along with an explanation:

-job aggregate_stat -line_type ORANK -out_line_type RHIST \
-by N_ENS \
-vx_mask HUC4_1605,HUC4_1803,HUC4_1804,HUC4_1805,HUC4_1806 \
-out_stat agg_ORANK_to_RHIST.txt \
-set_hdr VX_MASK HUC4_GROUP

This uses Python to read data from an orank.txt file, aggregates ORANK lines into RHIST output, writes separate output based on the number of ensemble members, groups together ORANK lines from this list of HUC4 regions, and writes the results to an output text file, setting VX_MASK=HUC4_GROUP rather than explicitly listing the input HUC4 names.

So it seems like you should be able to accomplish your goal through Python. Take a look at the script he used here for some inspiration, and please let me know if you have any additional questions. We clearly need to update our documentation to reflect this utility!
