We are developing a privacy-focused search engine with a sovereign index from the ground up, leveraging multi-threaded Rust. Our engine does not log anything or use any JavaScript at all, and makes one response per request.

Mainstream search engines do not hide the fact they want to push the highest bidder in your face. Google, Bing, DDG, and others are full of ads, SEO spam, listicles, and have a bias problem. As of the time of writing this, Google and Bing are adding to their list of problems by forcing Artificial Intelligence onto their users.
Metasearch engines (Such as Searx/SearXNG) crawl the indexes with these problems, and experience downstream effects when quality degrades in the higher order indexes. Kagi has very high quality results but you have to pay a subscription fee and have limited queries. Mojeek offers some of the privacy features we do, and also has an independent index; we wanted to go a step further. We have faster query returns than Mojeek, offer even better privacy, even stronger security, and the most robust querying options available. Aragonite works on airgapped networks, and even offline!
