Android 0.9.5
Android port of Bloodborne (v1.09) for Snapdragon phones (Adreno 6xx/7xx/8xx). Mali GPUs are not supported (the Mali driver is there for testing only). This update stops GPU memory from growing during long sessions.
Less memory, steadier frame rate
- Old GPU memory is freed. The GPU keeps copies of the game's memory, and until now they were never thrown away: every area you walked through added more, until the phone ran short of RAM and the frame rate collapsed (on a 12 GB phone, from ~28 to ~12 FPS after a few minutes, until a restart). Now, once the copies reach a cap (512 MB by default), the oldest ones not used for 20 seconds are thrown away and made again from the game's memory if needed.
- No crash when memory is freed on Snapdragon. Freeing one block the normal way made the Adreno kernel driver drop its neighbours too, and the game lost the GPU later. Freed blocks now point at a small spare allocation instead (#36).
- Up to 512 MB less for an almost empty table: on Turnip, the GPU's address table only takes memory for the parts the game uses (about 1 MB instead of 512 MB).
- AYN Thor, Central Yharnam: 33–39 FPS over a long session, GPU copies holding at about 480 MB.
Thanks to @StanTheMackiar for finding and fixing these (#36, #37).
Settings
Menu → App → Debug options → GPU memory:
- Free old GPU memory (FIFO): on by default. Turn it off if you see missing geometry or stutter.
- GPU memory cap (FIFO): 512–3072 MB. Lower uses less RAM but copies more often.
Changes apply at the next game start.
Install / update
Menu → Check for updates, or install the APK by hand over any 0.8.x/0.9.x; settings, saves, mods and the game folder are kept. Select your own extracted game folder containing eboot.bin, or install it from your own PKGs. No game files are included.
