Mock-up Scenario

While cleaning now-deceased grandparents' houses, John Doe finds an interesting looking artifact in one of the dust covered boxes. It has a near perfect square shape, very light and smells terribly plastic. Couldn't understand what this artifact is, John searches internet. After landing on a website about identifying antiques, John searches previous identified objects, hoping that maybe someone already made a post and asked. Seeing no direct results, John creates an account. He enters his email and writes a minimum 8-lenght password. Clicks create a post and writes:

That’s a 3.5-inch floppy disk, a type of storage device from the 1980s and 1990s. People used them to store files before USB drives and cloud storage became popular.

Haha this post made me feel old! It is indeed a floopy disk, an old type of storage device. You could insert them into your computer and put files in it to tranfer to other computers. It could hold up to whole 1.5 mb storage ha ha!!

Thank you for your answers! What does the metal part do btw?

User: malloc72

The sliding metal part is a protective cover that when you insert it into your computer it moves and reveals the disc. Nowadays it is hard to find a floppy disk reader, but if you can find it you can check the files inside, if there is any. (and if the disc isnt damaged.)
