Changes in 2.8

Wordlist Updates

  • Removed peacock, cockatoo, and woodcock from names list (452 → 449 entries)
  • Maintains consistency with petname 2.10
  • Avoids potentially awkward professional combinations when generating petnames

Issues Resolved

  • ✓ Closed #11: non-ASCII characters in README causes install to fail (fixed in 2.7)
  • ✓ Closed #15: UnicodeDecodeError on Windows install (fixed in 2.7)

Technical Details

The encoding fixes from version 2.7 are included:

  • UTF-8 encoding specified in setup.py for README.md reading
  • Graceful error handling for encoding issues
  • Compatible with Windows and non-ASCII locales

Testing

  • All 11 unit tests passing ✓
  • Package builds successfully (source and wheel distributions) ✓
  • CLI functionality verified ✓
