v1.20.1
v1.20.1 — Aliases Stop Hiding from --help
Three small post-v1.20 carryovers, none of which deserve a minor bump on their own. Bundled.
🆔 Existing Aliases Now Visible
When sq identify shipped in v1.20 with the id alias, it surfaced in sq --help as [aliases: id]. The older aliases — stat for status, inv for inventory, wear for equip, unequip for remove — were hidden (functional but undocumented in --help). New players couldn't discover them without hunting through sq help.
All five aliases are now visible in sq --help:
status View your character sheet (includes inventory) [aliases: stat]
inventory Check your inventory [aliases: inv]
equip Equip armor or ring from inventory [aliases: wear]
remove Remove equipped weapon, armor, or ring (puts it back in inventory) [aliases: unequip]
identify Show full stats and modifiers for an inventory or equipped item [aliases: id]
No new aliases were added. No existing aliases were changed. They just announce themselves now.
🧪 Help Suggestion Tests Now Property-Based
Internal cleanup. The fixtures that asserted the exact ordered list of typo suggestions (e.g. ["identify", "reset", "remove"] for re) were brittle by design — every new short alias risked churn. Refactored to assert the invariant directly: suggestions must be sorted ascending by edit distance, with alphabetical tiebreak when distances match. Same correctness guarantee, no fixture churn when topics shift.
No user-visible behavior change.
📜 Documentation
- The cargo build cache quirk that bit two manual QA cycles (
cargo build --bin sqreports "Fresh" while the on-disk binary is stale) is now documented inAGENTS.mdwith the workaround (cargo clean -p shellquest). - The post-v1.18
sq identifywork surfaced that max-enchanted Legendary items have a sell-enchant-bonus that exceeds their base sell value (the proportion of recovery climbs from 0% at +0 to 67% at +5). Documented indocs/balance-analysis.mdas a v1.22+ observation. Net economy is unchanged — enchant-then-sell is still ~10% recovery on investment.
⚙ Compatibility
Saves are unchanged. No CLI behavior changes (the aliases worked before; they just weren't advertised). No migration. Drop-in upgrade.
