What's Changed

Breaking Changes

  • Codex CLI rules: directory-scoped rules are written as nested AGENTS.md files. Closes #3172. by @dyoshikawa in #3185
    • Codex reads at most 32 KiB (project_doc_max_bytes) of AGENTS.md content along the path from the project root to the working directory, and silently drops the rest. Until now, Rulesync concatenated every codexcli rule into the root AGENTS.md.
    • In project scope, a rule with agentsmd.subprojectPath is now written to <dir>/AGENTS.md, as Pool, Vibe and DSH already do. This covers "auto" and deriveSubprojectPathFromGlobs. Rules that set only globs still fold into the root file by default.
    • generate warns when the root AGENTS.md, or a root-to-nested read chain, exceeds 32 KiB. The warning assumes the default limit and does not read a raised project_doc_max_bytes.
  • Codex CLI MCP: header environment variable references now come from the environment. Closes #3170. by @dyoshikawa in #3188
    • Codex does not expand ${VAR} in url or http_headers, so these values used to reach the server as literal strings.
    • Authorization: Bearer ${VAR} is now written as bearer_token_env_var = "VAR".
    • A header whose whole value is ${VAR} is now written to env_http_headers.
    • Explicit bearer_token_env_var / env_http_headers values still take precedence.
    • Any other ${…} left in url or a header value is emitted as-is, with a warning that names the server and field.

Bug Fixes

  • generate --global no longer scans $HOME for packaging targets. Closes #3181. by @dyoshikawa in #3183
    • Packaging targets such as claudecode-plugin and antigravity-plugin are project-only. They are now skipped in global mode with a single warning.
    • import --global with a packaging target now fails with a clear message instead of doing nothing.
  • OpenCode and Kilo global rules no longer land under $HOME/<subprojectPath>. Closes #3180. by @dyoshikawa in #3184
    • agentsmd.subprojectPath is now honoured in project scope only. Global non-root rules go to each tool's normal global rules location.
  • Claude Code import accepts a list-form argument-hint and skips broken skills instead of aborting. Closes #3168. by @dyoshikawa in #3192
    • argument-hint: [issue-number] parses as a YAML list. It is now accepted for Claude Code skills and commands, and normalized back to the bracketed string.
    • A Claude Code skill with invalid frontmatter is now skipped with a warning. The remaining skills, hooks and permissions still import.

Other Changes

  • Refresh the new-target watchlist in #3179
  • Refresh stale rulesync-feature-research reference maps in #3182
  • Update the Homebrew formula to v21.0.0 in #3167
