Reuse unchanged .gitignore and .ignore rules within each search to avoid repeated file reads and parsing during traversal. Fresh filesystem identity and canonical-path checks still detect changed rules.

Validation: type checks, lint, Docker product and installed-CLI tests, release-package validation, and native macOS installed smoke tests. Includes regression coverage for same-size ignore edits with restored timestamps and rule deletion/recreation.
