PurePin 0.9.3
PurePin 0.9.3
This preview adds clipboard image editing and makes the capture toolbar easier to use.
- Copy an image, then choose Edit Clipboard Image or press Option + F1. Annotate, crop, zoom, pan, save, copy, or pin it. Zooming changes only the view; exports keep the original pixel dimensions unless you crop the image. Clipboard editing does not require screen recording permission.
- The toolbar now has a prominent Copy ↩ action, clearer selected and disabled states, and distinct Blur and Mosaic icons.
- Empty margins around an image keep the ordinary arrow cursor. Clicking or dragging from a margin does not accidentally crop the image or create an annotation. Real crop edges remain adjustable, including drags that end outside the image.
- Screen recording setup is separate from capture. Complete the explicit permission steps, choose Done, then start a capture yourself; setup does not automatically resume or queue a screenshot.
Validation and limits
- On Apple Silicon running macOS 27.0, 143 local tests passed. One extended-display test was skipped because no secondary display was connected.
- AppKit checks covered the image canvas, arrow and text tools over empty margins, dragging from a margin into the image, and resizing a real crop edge.
- The Universal package includes Intel code but has not been tested on Intel hardware. Fresh-install permissions and browser-download Gatekeeper behavior have not received a separate manual pass for this version.
PurePin requires macOS 26 or newer. If function keys are assigned to macOS controls, use the fn / Globe key or change the shortcut in PurePin Settings.
Downloads
macOS 26+. Choose Apple Silicon for an M-series Mac, or Universal for a package containing both ARM and Intel code. Intel hardware acceptance must be stated in the test notes above.
Ad-hoc signed; not Developer ID signed or notarized by Apple. macOS may block the first launch. See Apple’s per-app opening instructions.

PurePin 0.9.2
PurePin 0.9.2
This preview fixes screenshot overlays appearing offset or partially off-screen when using an external display in extended desktop mode. Press F1 with the pointer on the display you want to capture; the screenshot editor stays on that same display.
Validation and limits
- All 124 local tests passed, including a regression test on an extended display with a nonzero desktop origin. The regression test fails with the previous window placement code.
- On Apple Silicon with an external display, the capture overlay, region selection, rectangle annotation, and Escape behavior were checked in the built app.
- The extended-display regression test requires a connected secondary display and is skipped on single-display CI runners.
- The Universal package includes Intel code, but has not been tested on Intel hardware. Fresh-install permissions and browser-download Gatekeeper behavior have not received a separate pass for this patch.
PurePin still requires Screen & System Audio Recording permission for capture. If F1 or F3 is assigned to a macOS control, use the fn / Globe key or change the shortcut in PurePin Settings.

PurePin 0.9.1
PurePin 0.9.1
This preview improves capture around the macOS menu bar. The menu bar stays visually still while selecting a screenshot, a click on it selects the full bar, and a drag starting there can extend into the desktop. Escape also dismisses the capture overlay more reliably.
Validation and limits
- On an Apple M1 Pro running macOS 27.0, the Release test suite passed all 123 tests, including 22 editor interaction tests.
- The installed local build was checked for menu bar selection and Escape behavior; the reported menu bar lag and jitter no longer reproduced. The packaged download and first-launch permission flow still need validation after the release artifacts are built.
- The Universal package includes Intel code, but has not been tested on Intel hardware. Saving from the nonactivating capture overlay and cross-display pin sharpness have not received a separate manual pass for this version.
PurePin still requires Screen & System Audio Recording permission for capture. If F1 or F3 is assigned to a macOS control, use the fn / Globe key or change the shortcut in PurePin Settings.

PurePin 0.9.0
PurePin 0.9.0
The first public preview of PurePin. Capture a region or full screen, annotate with arrows, text, and freehand strokes, and pin screenshots or clipboard images over other windows. The app processes images locally and requires no account.
Validation and limits
- Apple M1 Pro on macOS 27.0: the Release test suite passed all 121 tests, including capture, editing, pinning, and resource lifecycle checks.
- A separate instrumented Release build completed 20 capture cycles each for cancel, copy, and arrow-plus-copy on the same product code. See the measurement method and data for its scope.
- The Universal package includes Intel code, but has not been tested on Intel hardware. Cross-app physical shortcut triggering and first launch from a downloaded DMG have not been verified for this preview.
If F1 or F3 is already assigned to a macOS control, use the fn / Globe key or change the shortcut in PurePin Settings. Screen capture requires permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.
