Parrot for Windows v0.3.0

@ebreen ebreen released this 07 Aug 18:59

What's new

  • Record any keyboard key or chord from Settings → Record shortcut.
  • Keep Right Ctrl as the default, with Right Alt, F8, and F9 still available as presets.
  • Custom shortcuts persist between launches and work with keyboard-based accessibility devices and foot pedals.
  • The active push-to-talk hook pauses while recording a new shortcut, so it cannot interfere with capture.

Download

Download Parrot-Windows-x64.zip, extract it, and run Parrot.exe.

The first launch may take a little longer while Parrot downloads and loads the local speech model. Later launches load it from disk, and transcription is fast once the tray says Ready.

Includes local NVIDIA acceleration through CUDA or Vulkan, plus CPU fallback.

Stability and settings update

This release makes longer dictation more reliable and adds control over your microphone, model, and compute backend.

What's new

  • Select any active microphone and keep your choice between launches.
  • Choose Accurate (small.en Q5, 181 MB) or Fast (base.en, 142 MB) recognition.
  • Prefer CUDA, Vulkan GPU, or CPU—or let Parrot choose automatically.
  • Tune end-of-speech protection; the new 400 ms default helps retain final words.
  • Use paced text delivery for apps that drop parts of longer prompts.
  • Manage the shortcut, recording pill, and Windows startup from Settings.

Get started

Download Parrot-Windows-x64.zip, extract it, and run Parrot.exe.

Note

The accurate model takes a little longer to download and load the first time. Once Parrot says Ready, transcription is fast.
