Lab: Ubuntu Git Repo Connection

Start by opening terminal on the Ubuntu VM and becoming a superuser with sudo su

Then generate SSH Keys

ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "[email]"

Enter and remember a passphrase

Check if the SSH Client is running

• eval "$(ssh-agent -s)"

Add your ssh private key to the ssh-agent (if you used a different name use this instead of "id_ed25519"

• ssh-add /root/.ssh/id_ed25519
• Enter your passphrase

cat /root/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub - copy the output

Log into github and go to the settings, add a new SSH key under "SSH and GPG keys" and paste the output from above

Test the connection with ssh -T git@github.com

apt-get update then apt-get install git

Clone the repo with git clone [repo ssh link]

Set up email and username with:

• git config --global user.email "[email]"
• git config --global user.name "[name]"

Add, commit, and push as needed!
