New features

  • Explore: search the active catalog source directly from the Explore page instead of a separate screen
  • Explore cards and detail pages show what the catalogs already return: attributed ratings, leaderboard ranks, audience counts, broadcast slots, next-episode air times, availability and request state
  • File Info details every version, file and stream a server reports, including split files, extra versions, dynamic range, Dolby Vision layers, spatial audio and embedded attachments
  • New playback setting to follow the server's own audio and subtitle choice for each episode, for libraries curated server-side such as Plex Auto Languages
  • Pausing or seeking with the controls hidden now shows a small transient indicator instead of raising the whole player UI over the subtitles you were reading

Playback

  • Forced subtitles stay forced across episode changes, and a track choice that does not fit the next episode falls back to the server's own choice instead of latching onto the wrong track and saving it back
  • Double tap to skip requires a fresh double tap every time; a remote or keyboard press no longer arms one-tap seeking, and the side zones raise the controls again
  • Keyboard and remote seeks accumulate into one running total like the on-screen skip controls

Explore

  • Plex Discover home shelves now render instead of showing only the Watchlist row
  • Titles you own are matched to your library again, and watchlist hearts load and toggle
  • Anime and sequel seasons match the show they belong to in your library
  • Catalog detail pages are sized to their content: related titles collapse into one compact section, scores appear behind their source's brand mark, and facts flow into columns on wide windows

Jellyfin

  • Signing in works when your device name contains accented characters
  • Continue Watching loads in a fraction of the time on Jellyfin 12 release candidates instead of timing out and starving the server of other clients
  • Embedded subtitles in a direct-played file are selected automatically instead of playback starting with subtitles off

Artwork

  • Artwork is fetched and decoded for the display it is actually shown on, so posters, backdrops and logos are sharp on a 4K TV instead of upscaled from 1080p
  • Portrait heroes show the square background art Plex supplies instead of cropping a widescreen backdrop into a tall box

Settings and navigation

  • The external player list shows only players that are actually installed, on Linux, macOS and Windows

macOS

  • Audio no longer skips roughly twice a second during playback

Windows

  • Micro-stutter during fullscreen playback on FreeSync and G-Sync displays is gone
  • The in-app updater now asks for permission when Plezy is installed somewhere an ordinary process cannot write, instead of failing silently and leaving a manual reinstall as the only way to update

Android

  • TrueHD and DTS-HD play again instead of failing with no suitable decoder and handing off to the fallback player, which keeps Dolby Vision Profile 7 conversion on hardware that can direct-play it
  • Audio passthrough is matched to what the connected receiver actually accepts, so playback no longer freezes at the start on a sink that bitstreams only Dolby formats
  • A file whose decoder stops without ending playback now completes, so Play Next and auto-play work instead of a black screen running past the end
  • Watch Next shelf artwork appears in every installed launcher rather than only the default one

Android Automotive

  • Playback stops when the vehicle starts driving and cannot be resumed while driving
  • Head units are no longer treated as televisions, and picture-in-picture is disabled where the car does not support it
