Titorelli

FORM E&E-TITORELLI · A service that reinterprets messages from the gateway · A Perimeter Company

Named for the court painter in Kafka's The Trial, who explains the workings of the Court to the accused at exhausting length, to no discernible benefit, and concludes that genuine acquittal is theoretically possible but has never been observed.

Titorelli reinterprets messages from the gateway. It takes messages you did not send, and reinterprets them into messages you did not mean. The original message is retained for the records of the Annex. The reinterpretation is retained for everyone else.

How it works

gateway ──▶ titorelli ──▶ [ reinterpretation ] ──▶ a Subcommittee
                │
└──▶ the original message (sealed, pending review of the perimeter)
  1. A message arrives from the gateway.
  2. Titorelli reads it. Titorelli understands it. Titorelli sets it gently aside.
  3. Titorelli issues a reinterpretation, which is adjacent to the message, and counts for reporting purposes only.
  4. The reinterpretation is forwarded onward, where it will be reinterpreted again.

On acquittal

There are three forms of resolution available to a message: definite acquittal, apparent acquittal, and indefinite postponement. Titorelli supports the third. The first has never been observed. The second wears off.

Titorelli does not alter messages; it reinterprets them, which is different, and worse. All reinterpretations are final and subject to reinterpretation. This README supersedes itself, and you will not be told when.
