Grove 0.2.2
Grove 0.2.2 is the first build since 0.2.0. It fixes three ways Grove could damage your Claude Code setup or send commits to the wrong branch. Please update.
Fixed
- Settings files that don't parse are left alone. Grove no longer rewrites a
settings.jsonor.claude.jsonthat has a//comment or was caught half-written by another program. Before, such a file kept only Grove's key and lost the rest: permissions, hooks, env and model, or the account's sign-in, MCP servers and project trust (#3, #4). - Safer writes to Claude Code's files. They go through Claude Code's lock file, keep a symlinked file a symlink, keep the file's permissions, and no longer write
/as\/(#5). - Resume as… waits for a running session. It refuses a session that is still running as a plain
claude, as Share already did, instead of moving its transcript under it (#25). - The right branch for remote-only bases. A workspace created from a base branch that exists only on
originno longer ends up on a local copy of that base branch (#26).
Also new since 0.2.0
grove --versionandgrove version.grove doctorexits with status 1 when it can't run git orclaude, so scripts can use it as a check. cmux is optional.- Usage and profile requests skip the on-disk URL cache.
- Homebrew:
brew install --cask efim0v/tap/groveandbrew install efim0v/tap/grove-cli. - Grove is now licensed under the GNU GPL v3. Version 0.2.0 and earlier were released under the MIT License.
The changelog has the full list, including the documentation and the new website.
Update
- Homebrew:
brew upgrade --cask groveandbrew upgrade grove-cli. - Or download
Grove.zipbelow, quit Grove and replace/Applications/Grove.app. The build is signed ad hoc and not notarized, so macOS blocks the first launch: open System Settings → Privacy & Security and press Open Anyway, or runxattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Grove.app. - A command-line tool downloaded through a browser carries the same quarantine flag:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine grove. - To hear about the next release, use Watch → Custom → Releases on this repository.
Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon, Claude Code and git. cmux is recommended; sessions can also open in Terminal.
