The first public release of RetroDir, a retro dual-panel file manager for macOS with a built-in tabbed terminal.

Download: RetroDir.dmg below. Open it and drag RetroDir to Applications.

  • Universal app for Apple silicon and Intel Macs, macOS 13 Ventura or later
  • Signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens without Gatekeeper warnings

Highlights

  • Two side-by-side panels with F-key file operations (copy, move, rename, make folder, Trash)
  • Built-in tabbed terminal in a bottom split (Cmd-T)
  • F3 viewer with hex mode and F4 editor with undo, search and replace
  • Quick View (Ctrl-Q) and Info (Ctrl-L) panels, archives, find files, folder hotlist
  • Four colour themes: Classic Blue, Midnight, Amber, Navy
  • Press F1 in the app for the full keyboard reference
