Torrents that stay out of the way

0.6.2 played torrents but let the engine use the connection freely, and everything else in the app (catalogs, search, addons) crawled while it did. This release reins it in.

• Upload is capped at 512 KB/s by default. A saturated upload link stalls every other request the app makes. The cap is adjustable in Settings › Addons › Torrents, as is a download cap (off by default) for connections where a playing torrent slows the rest down.
• Torrents pause the moment you close the player, and within seconds of the last byte read, instead of a minute later.
• The engine shuts down entirely after five idle minutes: no DHT chatter, no incoming peers keeping the router busy long after playback. The next play starts a fresh one; the cache stays.
• At most 50 peers per torrent.
• Sharing and the caps apply immediately, no restart needed.

Addons can be switched off

• Every addon in Settings › Addons has a switch. Off, it stays in the list but adds no catalogs and no sources. The state syncs with the website, which already had the same switch.

Built-in torrents

Sources that arrive as a torrent, which is what Peerflix, Torrentio or Comet return when no debrid service is configured, now play in ejFlix itself. The app carries its own BitTorrent engine (librqbit): the file streams to the player from a local address as it downloads, seeking included, the same way Stremio does it.

• Torrent sources show up in the source picker as playable rows, marked "Torrent". The next episode chains through them too.
• While peers are found, the player says so on the splash screen.
• Downloads land in a disk cache with a size limit (5 GB by default); past the limit the oldest torrents go first. A torrent nobody is watching is paused after a minute.
• Settings › Addons › Torrents: turn playback on or off, share while watching (uploading, which keeps torrents alive), the cache size and a button to clear it.
• Uploading is on by default, as in every torrent client. Windows will ask once whether ejFlix may accept incoming connections.

Addons

• Addons with a settings page (Peerflix, Torrentio, Comet, MediaFusion and others that declare configurable) get a Configure addon button in Settings › Addons and in the source picker.
• With torrent playback switched off, an addon that only returned torrents shows one notice instead of a list of greyed-out rows, with buttons to turn torrents on or to open the addon's settings.
• Magnet links sent by an addon as the stream URL are understood as torrents; fileIdx and the addon's trackers are used.

Under the hood

• New dependency librqbit (pure Rust; its TLS stack compiles aws-lc, which needs CMake at build time).
• README describes the engine and the cache.

ejFlix 0.6.1

Sync fixes

A review of the account code in 0.6.0 turned up a set of bugs in how the desktop app keeps a profile in step with the account. All of them are fixed here.

The session

• The account no longer signs itself out about an hour after every sign-in. The tokens renewed during a sync were being overwritten by the copy the sync had started with.
• A dropped connection, a timeout or a rate limit while the token is renewed no longer signs the profile out. Only a refresh the server actually rejects does.
• Switching profiles while a sync is still running can no longer store one profile's account inside another.
• Forgetting the server also forgets the accounts its users had signed into.

What syncs

• Removing the last addon, IPTV list or title, or unlinking the server, now reaches your other PCs instead of coming back from the account.
• When two PCs changed the same list, the newer entry wins and titles removed on one side stay removed. Progress no longer resurrects positions you finished or deleted.
• Settings merge section by section: a theme changed here and a favourite channel added there both survive.
• A PC that keeps its IPTV passwords and server token to itself no longer blanks the ones another PC uploaded.
• An addon switched off on the website stays in the account as disabled instead of being deleted by the next sync.
• Signed in straight to a Jellyfin server, that server now goes into the account too.
• A list too large to upload is reported and retried, instead of being marked as synced.
• Xtream sources added on the website as a get.php link now work on the desktop.

On screen

• My list, continue watching and a server linked on another PC show up as soon as they arrive, without re-entering the profile.
• If you turn on two-step verification on the website, the app asks for the code (and lets you sign out) instead of silently stopping the sync.
• Sync errors in Settings › Account are shown in plain language.

ejFlix 0.6.0

ejFlix account

Create an account from the app (Settings › Account) or at ejflix.xyz, with email confirmation, optional two-step verification (TOTP) and password recovery by email.

Once signed in, the app keeps your things in sync between PCs:

• Servers (Jellyfin, Plex or Emby), Stremio addons and IPTV lists
• My list, watched titles and playback progress
• Settings

Sync runs when you enter a profile, every few minutes and on demand from Settings › Account. Passwords and server tokens stay on each PC unless you switch on "sync credentials".

On the website you can manage servers, addons and IPTV lists, change your email or password, turn two-step verification on or off, sign out other sessions, see the devices that synced and delete the account with everything in it.

The account is optional: local profiles keep working exactly as before.

• La nota de actualizaciones automáticas apuntaba a Ajustes › Cuenta, donde ya no están; ahora manda a Ajustes › Acerca de.

Sobre el aviso de Windows

El instalador no está firmado, así que SmartScreen avisa y algún antivirus lo marca por no conocerlo. Si te pasa: Más información → Ejecutar de todas formas, o botón derecho sobre el archivo → Propiedades → Desbloquear. El README explica qué haría falta para firmarlo.

Novedades

Las fuentes online ya no se quedan a medias. Un título que viene de un catálogo que usa su propia base de datos (tmdb:610253) solo llegaba a los addons que indexan esa base, y por eso faltaba la mitad de las fuentes. Ahora el título se identifica por su id de IMDb y se pregunta por los dos: en una película que daba 8 fuentes (solo MediaFusion) ahora salen 21, con Peerflix, Torrentio y MediaFusion.

Búsqueda. El buscador vive en la cabecera y los resultados aparecen según escribes. Una ficha por título en vez de duplicados, ordenadas por lo bien que responden a lo que buscas, y fuera lo que no tiene nada que ver: "Juego de tronos" pasa de 20 resultados con la serie en el puesto 18 a 4 con la serie la primera.

Cabecera nueva: Inicio · Descubrir · Mi lista · Mi servidor · TV, con los ajustes detrás de tu foto y el logo de ejFlix.

Tus títulos online, en tu biblioteca. Ya puedes guardarlos en Mi lista y marcarlos como vistos; se guardan por perfil.

Fuentes online: filtros de calidad, disponibilidad e idioma; cada fila muestra solo el nombre de la película y lo técnico pasa a badges; en la pestaña de descargas la fila solo descarga. La etiqueta "Hay que descargarlo" pasa a "Tarda en empezar", que se confundía con tener que descargar el archivo tú.

Fichas: el reparto sale con foto y personaje, la producción se coloca junto a la sinopsis, y debajo va la colección a la que pertenece el título (la saga entera) en vez de recomendaciones sin relación.

Ajustes: página Acerca de con la versión y las actualizaciones, desplegables propios en Reproducción y Discord fijado a la aplicación de ejFlix.

Icono y logo nuevos.
