5.12.1
Girovo 5.12.1
Android
- The account on screen stays put after a fingerprint login – once your further banks had logged in on their own after the fingerprint, Girovo switched to the first account of the last one. It now stays on the account you were looking at; a bank you add yourself still opens its first account.

Girovo 5.12.0
On Android, one fingerprint now logs you in to all your banks, and lists scroll without getting caught.
Android
- Fingerprint login for further banks – with "Mit Fingerabdruck anmelden" on, the PINs of the banks you added with "Weitere Bank anmelden" are kept beside your first one, encrypted with a key only your fingerprint opens. One fingerprint at login opens them all, and your further banks log in one after another; approvals stay as each bank asks. A bank you log in with its PIN typed asks once for your fingerprint to be kept as well ("Nicht jetzt" skips it). A PIN the bank refuses, or "Bank entfernen", deletes that bank's PIN; adding a fingerprint to the phone or turning the switch off deletes them all. If fingerprint login is on already, it keeps working, and your further banks join it the next time you log one in.
- Scrolling – the category menu and the row of filter chips scroll again when your finger drifts a little: pulling down to refresh only takes over on the page itself. A press no longer stays lit while you scroll.
5.11.0
Girovo 5.11.0
A new look on Android: calmer and clearer, with three places instead of five and search first. The desktop app keeps its look for now.
Android
- Three places – Übersicht, Zahlungen and Analyse in the navigation bar. Zahlungen gathers Überweisen, Geld anfordern, GiroCode scannen, your Vorlagen and the payees you paid last, above Verträge & Abos. "Mehr" and the floating Überweisen button are gone.
- Search first – the Übersicht opens with a search bar for Umsätze, payees and the app's actions; a question goes on to "Frag deine Umsätze". The bell moved into the Sitzung panel as Mitteilungen, and a dot on your avatar says when something is new.
- The balance up front – large and plain, with Verfügbar and a line of its course; the details open in place. The account's name opens your accounts as a sheet.
- Transfers start with the amount – type it on the number pad, then choose the payee, then check everything on the review.
- Booking details in tabs – Details, Notiz & Belege and Kategorie; a dot on a tab says a note or a receipt is there.
- A new login – the banks' logos as tiles on Girovo's own field, the form on a sheet below it.
- Type, icons and colour – quieter type with tidier figures, Material Symbols (filled for the place you are on), Analyse charts in your wallpaper's tones, and calm transitions between places.
Everywhere
- Website and contact – Einstellungen → Über Girovo links girovo.de and contact@girovo.de.
5.10.2
Girovo 5.10.2
Everywhere
- Impressum – Einstellungen → Über Girovo now links the legal notice next to the privacy policy. Girovo is provided by MT-Media; both pages cover every version of the app.
Android
- Girovo Plus in the Google Play version – an optional supporter subscription (0,99 € a month or 9,99 € a year, 3 days free) for several banks, the month-end forecast, "Frag deine Umsätze" and a gold app icon. The GitHub version stays complete and free: nothing is locked in this APK.
- The home-screen icon may disappear once – Girovo's launcher entry moved (it is what lets Play subscribers switch to the gold icon). Some launchers drop the shortcut with this update; Girovo stays in the app drawer, from where you can put it back.
5.9.1
Girovo 5.9.1
Android
- Xiaomi phones no longer count as rooted – HyperOS mounts its own regional apps and settings over the system partition, and Girovo took that for a root modification: every Xiaomi phone showed "Dieses Telefon ist verändert" and kept nothing. Girovo now only counts such a layer when a root tool made it. OPPO and OnePlus phones, which do the same with their own partitions, are fixed too.
5.9.0
Girovo 5.9.0
Smarter categories everywhere, and on Android a "Frag deine Umsätze" that ranks and compares – plus tidy payee names and a search that understands "Tanken im August".
Everywhere
- Essen & Trinken – restaurants, cafés, takeaway and delivery have a category of their own, apart from Freizeit (cinema, concerts, sport, games, hotels). "Restaurants im August" no longer brings up a Steam purchase. What Girovo filed itself moves to the right one by itself; whatever you filed or budgeted under Freizeit yourself stays there, and Girovo says so once.
- Games are Freizeit – Steam, PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop, Fanatical, Kinguin and other game shops are filed together; game subscriptions such as Game Pass stay under Abos & Medien.
- Your filing counts for every spelling – a payee you filed yourself also decides its other spellings ("HORNBACH BAUMARKT FIL. 0815" like "Hornbach Baumarkt AG"), before any built-in rule.
- More shops known – headphones and computer gear (Beyerdynamic, Wooting, Logitech …), travel eSIMs and Discord are filed where they belong.
- PayPal payouts – money paid out from your PayPal balance to your account counts as an Umbuchung, not as Shopping.
Android
- Rankings – ask "Wofür gebe ich am meisten aus?" or "Wo kaufe ich am häufigsten ein?": the top five categories or payees, each a tap away from its bookings.
- Comparisons – "Mehr als letzten Monat?" or "Tanken diesen vs. letzten Monat": both figures and the difference. A running month is compared with the same days of the last one, so half a month never looks like saving.
- Payee names by brand – Gemini Nano turns "PAYPAL *EBAY" into "eBay" and "Deichmann-Schuhe GmbH & Co. Vertriebs KG" into "Deichmann" in the lists, and finds their logos more often. Only names that stand in the bank's own text are used; the booking's details keep the bank's text, and the search finds both.
- A search that understands you – in the Umsätze list, "Tanken im August" or "Amazon letzten Monat" become the matching filters when you press search.
5.8.0
Girovo 5.8.0
On Android you can now ask Girovo about your Umsätze in your own words – Gemini Nano reads the question, Girovo works out the answer on the phone. The phone check also looks at the running system now, and a smaller, faster app is ready for Android 16's large screens.
Android
- Frag deine Umsätze – at the top of the Analyse, ask "Wie viel ging an Amazon?", "Lebensmittel letzten Monat" or "Wie oft war ich bei McDonalds?". Gemini Nano only reads what you are looking for; Girovo works out the figure from your loaded Umsätze, shows what it searched for, and "Umsätze zeigen" opens exactly the bookings it counted. Nothing leaves the phone, and Gemini Nano never states a figure itself.
- Questions need Gemini Nano v4 – on a phone with an older model, or without one, the Analyse says "Nicht unterstützt" and why, with a button to update AICore in the Play Store.
- A closer look at the running system – besides the boot check by the phone's security hardware, Girovo now notices signs of root on a running system, such as root modules mounted over system files or a redirected hosts file. Such a phone counts as modified: the login warns, and Girovo keeps nothing on it. A root manager app that is merely installed, or a preinstalled app hidden by the phone, does not count.
- Keeping data anyway – if you know your rooted phone and want Girovo to save on it regardless, hold "Schließen" in Einstellungen → Gerätesicherheit for 10 seconds. A full-screen warning explains what that means; only after "Ich verstehe das Risiko" can you allow it. The fingerprint login stays off on such a phone, and "Wieder nichts speichern" takes it back.
- Gemini Nano on more phones – Girovo tries every model variant AICore offers, so phones that only have some of them, such as a Xiaomi 17 Ultra, now get categories too. When AICore has not started a download after a minute, Einstellungen says so and what usually helps.
- Half the size – the app is now optimised and shrunk when it is built: the download drops from 7 MB to under 4 MB.
- Edge to edge, on every Android – Girovo draws under the status and navigation bars on older Android versions too, as Android 15 and later already did, and no longer fixes the code scanner to portrait on tablets and foldables.
5.7.0
Girovo 5.7.0
On Android, Girovo now sorts bookings with Gemini Nano, the language model your phone already has, instead of a 300 MB download – and the phone layout is tidier, from the Übersicht with several banks to a new Einstellungen screen.
Android
- Categories with Gemini Nano – bookings the rules don't recognise, such as a local bakery or a parking app, are sorted by Gemini Nano, which Android runs on the phone itself through AICore. Nothing to download in Girovo, and nothing leaves the phone. In our tests it filed clearly more bookings correctly than the previous model, with no more wrong guesses. Einstellungen marks it in Gemini's colours, with a check while it is at work.
- Your own rules count first – a shop you filed yourself keeps your category under another spelling too ("HORNBACH BAUMARKT FIL. 0815" like "Hornbach Baumarkt AG").
- Progress you can see – while Gemini Nano works through your bookings, the Umsätze and the Analyse show "Kategorien werden zugeordnet · 120 von 300".
- Phones without Gemini Nano – Einstellungen says "Nicht unterstütztes Telefon", and there the rules sort on their own, as before without the download.
- Space back – the old 280 MB text model is removed from the phone the first time this version starts.
- A calmer Übersicht with several banks – your accounts are one row of cards to swipe through, each bank's name above its own. A bank you are not logged in to is a single line with "Anmelden", instead of three mentions. The Gesamtsaldo appears once every balance is in, and with a single account the balance itself names its bank.
- Einstellungen as its own screen – it opens with a back arrow, without the navigation bar, and is grouped the way Android's own settings are: Allgemein, Sicherheit, Kategorien, Datenschutz, Auf diesem Telefon and Über Girovo, each setting in a line or two.
- Gerätesicherheit at a glance – a green check, an orange exclamation mark or a red cross says how the phone's check came out; tap it for the details.
- Nothing kept on an unsafe phone – on a phone that is modified, or that cannot prove its state, Girovo now stores nothing: no remembered device, no saved data, Umsätze, documents, fingerprint PIN or login name. The session lasts until you log out, and the login says so before you start.
- Loading indicators – short waits in buttons and lists show Material's turning arc instead of a still dot, and pull to refresh shows Material 3 Expressive's shape-morphing indicator.
Everywhere
- Einstellungen, regrouped – the same grouped sections on the desktop, with short descriptions; what an action does in full is said in its dialog.
- A bank you are not logged in to is one row with "Anmelden" in Konten und Karten.
- Company logos – a recipient named "WWW.Amazon." now gets Amazon's logo, and Deutsche Bahn's companies (DB Dialog, DB Vertrieb, DB Fernverkehr …) get the DB logo.
The desktop app keeps its own category model; nothing changes there.
5.6.0
Girovo 5.6.0
On Android, Girovo now checks the phone it runs on and its own copy before you type your PIN.
Android
- Gerätesicherheit – Girovo asks the phone's security hardware whether its bootloader is locked and the system is verified, as Android's key attestation reports it. Einstellungen → Auf diesem Telefon shows the result: the maker's Android, a custom Android with a locked bootloader (such as GrapheneOS), a modified phone, or a phone that can't prove its state.
- A warning before the PIN – on a modified phone (unlocked bootloader or unverified system) the login says so before you type your PIN, since an app with root rights could read it.
- Only the real Girovo – Girovo checks that it is signed with its own key or installed from Google Play. A copy someone else signed gets a clear warning at the login not to enter the PIN there.
The check runs on the phone; nothing is sent anywhere.
5.5.2
Girovo 5.5.2
A fix for company logos.
Fixes
- No more wrong logo for "GmbH & Co.KG" – a company written with "Co.KG" (without a space, as some banks do) was taken for a website and got that site's logo instead of its own; Beyerdynamic, for example. Girovo now looks for the company's name, and only real web addresses (such as amazon.de) count as one.
- Fewer names mistaken for websites – abbreviations with a dot, such as "Dr.Oetker" or "St.Gallen", are no longer read as web addresses either.
Logos already shown are corrected after the next start of Girovo.
