spec-kit-aee 1.4.0 corrects how this extension relates to its companion, the Evaluator Contract extension (spec-kit-evaluator).
What changed. AEE is one evaluator among many, by design: it checks claims and writes its result in a shared format. The shared evaluator extension is the piece that combines results from every evaluator on a project — AEE's included — the same way, so verdicts stay consistent across tools. Version 1.3.0 treated that companion as optional, which made the consistency it exists for a matter of chance. From 1.4.0 it is a required part of the install, and the extension enforces that itself: if the evaluator extension is missing, the assessment command stops before doing any work, with a clear message naming what is missing and how to install it. Nothing is written by a refused run.
Everything else is unchanged from 1.3.0: the same ten commands, the same reports (each claim's maturity stage, machine verification and human progress shown side by side, and what remains not understood), and the same engine requirement (AEE engine 1.5.0 or later, on PyPI as applied-epistemic-engineering).
