v4.2.3 — WordPress Companion 4.2.3 (plugin 4.2.2)
Eliodata WordPress Companion 4.2.3 (IDE extension). The WordPress plugin is unchanged: Eliodata MCP Bridge 4.2.2, also available on WordPress.org.
Downloads
eliodata-wordpress-companion-4.2.3.vsix: IDE extension. Install it with Extensions: Install from VSIX....eliodata-snippet-hub-4.2.2.zip: WordPress plugin, same as in v4.2.2.
Fixed
- Local changes are no longer overwritten by the server version. A snippet file changed outside the editor (script, Obsidian, AI agent, git) was replaced by the older WordPress version at the next refresh, which runs after any save in the editor; the next save then published that older version. A file whose code differs both from its last sync and from the server is now kept, with a warning offering to open it. Saving it in the editor publishes it, as before.
- Doc comments at the top of a snippet are kept. A
/** ... */comment at the start of the code was removed from the code sent to WordPress. Only the header written by the old v3 cache format (* Snippet ID: N) is removed now.
Full changelog: extension.
v4.2.2 — Eliodata MCP Bridge 4.2.2 + WordPress Companion 4.2.1
Eliodata MCP Bridge 4.2.2 (WordPress plugin) and Eliodata WordPress Companion 4.2.1 (IDE extension).
The plugin is renamed from Eliodata Snippet Hub to Eliodata MCP Bridge. The slug, settings and snippets are kept.

Requires WordPress 5.6 or later, PHP 7.4 or later, and VS Code 1.90 or later (or a compatible editor such as Trae).
Before upgrading from 2.x or 3.x
Test on a staging site first.
- Snippets that target all content now run on
initon every request, including REST, cron and AJAX requests. REST routes and cron hooks declared in snippets now work: check theirpermission_callback. - Call conditional tags such as
is_page()inside a hook. To keep the previous timing, adddefine('ELIODATA_SNIPPET_HUB_LEGACY_TIMING', true);towp-config.php. - On multisite, only super admins can manage snippets.
- The FluentSnippets provider is removed from the extension.
WordPress plugin
MCP
- MCP endpoints to discover and run tools (
/mcp/tools,/mcp/call), with built-in snippet tools (list, get, create, update, delete) and read or write profiles. - Custom MCP tools per site, calling any REST route of the site.
- MCP admin screen: one catalog of every tool, a tester (write tools ask for confirmation) and a form to create custom tools.
Security and reliability
- Read-only Application Passwords: put
[readonly]in the password name. Every write request made with it is refused on the whole REST API, and XML-RPC is blocked. - PHP syntax check before a snippet is stored. The REST API rejects invalid code; the admin screen and the importer keep it but deactivated.
- A snippet that causes a fatal error is deactivated automatically, including errors raised later by its callbacks, and the error is shown in the admin.
- Safe mode:
define('ELIODATA_SNIPPET_HUB_SAFE_MODE', true);inwp-config.phpstops every snippet. - Snippets never run on the plugin screens and on the
/ide/v1/routes, so a broken snippet can always be fixed. - Snippet code is compiled once per version in a private folder of uploads, instead of a temporary file on every request.
- Site-specific code removed from the public package.
Fixes
- Object cache cleared after changes made through the REST API and bulk actions.
- Custom MCP tools listed in the MCP catalog.
- The import summary counts created snippets correctly.
- Snippets stored in the Code Snippets tables are checked for syntax errors and their cache is cleared.
IDE extension
- MCP: browse, refresh and run the tools of the connected site, and manage its custom tools.
- Snippets stored as Markdown files with YAML frontmatter, in a folder you choose (it can be inside an Obsidian vault), with frontmatter enrichment and configurable domain rules (
wordpressSnippets.domainRules). - A snippet is sent to WordPress only when you save it in the editor. Changes made outside the editor (git pull, branch switch, Obsidian, scripts) are no longer sent automatically.
php -lchecks the syntax before a snippet is sent, when PHP is installed locally.- Untrusted workspaces: nothing is sent to WordPress, and the workspace cannot change the storage or sync settings.
- The sync lock follows the window you save in, and a warning explains when a save is not sent.
- A snippet refused by WordPress no longer overwrites the local file, and the WordPress error message is shown.
