What's New in v0.1.11

This release fixes the critical bug where Streamlit was failing to start with a 404 error.

Bug Fixes

  • Streamlit Static Files Missing: Fixed FileNotFoundError for index.html by bundling all Streamlit static files (HTML, JS, CSS) with PyInstaller
  • Output Capture: Added stdout/stderr redirection to log files for better debugging
  • Dynamic Versioning: App now displays version from pyproject.toml dynamically

What Was Broken in v0.1.10

The v0.1.10 release would show a desktop window but display a 404 error because:

FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory:
'...\StreamlitApp\_internal\streamlit\static\index.html'

PyInstaller was not bundling Streamlit's static web files, so the web server couldn't serve the UI.

Technical Changes

  • Added --add-data flags to bundle streamlit/static/, streamlit/runtime/, and streamlit/vendor/
  • Added --collect-data streamlit to PyInstaller build scripts
  • Streamlit output now captured in logs/streamlit_stdout.log and logs/streamlit_stderr.log
  • Sidebar now reads version from pyproject.toml instead of hardcoded value

Testing

All changes tested locally on Windows:

  • ✅ Build completes successfully
  • ✅ Streamlit server starts and serves web UI
  • ✅ Desktop window displays Streamlit app correctly
  • ✅ No 404 errors
  • ✅ Version displays correctly in sidebar

Installation Instructions

Windows:

  1. Download StreamlitApp-Windows-*.zip
  2. Extract the ZIP file
  3. Run StreamlitApp.exe

Linux:

  1. Download StreamlitApp-Linux-*.tar.gz
  2. Extract: tar -xzf StreamlitApp-Linux-*.tar.gz
  3. Install dependencies: sudo apt-get install libgtk-3-0 libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0
  4. Run: ./StreamlitApp/StreamlitApp

MacOS:

  1. Download StreamlitApp-MacOS-*.zip
  2. Extract the ZIP file
  3. Right-click StreamlitApp.app → Open (first time only)
  4. Grant permissions if prompted
