v1.0
Atomic Bomberman (modern) 1.0
The first release of a from-scratch reimplementation of Atomic Bomberman (Interplay, 1997), built by studying the original game and rebuilding its rules in a new program.
Unofficial fan project. Not affiliated with Interplay, Hudson Soft or Konami. No original game files are included.
Play right away
Download the package for your system below, unpack it, and run atomic (Linux) or atomic.exe (Windows). Nothing else to install.
With no original game on your machine, it plays with its own free graphics, sounds, music and arenas.
Got the original game?
Import its data once to get the original graphics, sounds, music and all its arenas:
atomic --import-assets PATH_TO_YOUR_ORIGINAL_GAME
The path is your installed folder or the CD. Full instructions are in INSTALL.md inside the package.
What is in it
- The original's rules: kicks, punches, grab and throw, trigger and jelly bombs, diseases, 13 powerups, closing walls.
- All 11 levels, with arrows, conveyor belts, warp holes and trampolines.
- Up to 10 players: keyboard, gamepads and computer players; free-for-all or teams.
- Network play: host from the menu or run the dedicated server; lobby, chat, LAN search, up to four players per computer.
- Extras from the original: campaign mode, the bonus roulette, the level editor, the help pages.
- A free asset set, so the game works without the original's data.
Network games
One player chooses Start Network Game, the others Join Network Game. Games on your local network are found automatically; otherwise type the host's address.
- The host's port (27410, TCP and UDP) must be reachable. A hosted game asks the router to open it and tells you in the lobby whether that worked.
- If it can't be opened, a relay can be used: see the README.
- For a server that is always on, use
atomic_server, included in the packages and also available on its own. - Everyone needs this same version.
