Using the radio
This wiki page explains how to use the Quansheng UV-K5 radio, when programmed with the RescueOps firmware according to the instructions on this page.

| Charge battery | Insert the radio in the desktop cradle, or plug it into a 5 Volts USB-C charger. |
| Change channel | Either ○ push the ^ and v buttons, or set the channel number with the ○ keyboard buttons. |

| Flashlight | ○ short push the lateral F1 button to cycle between flashlight states. |
| Boost TX power | ● long push the lateral F1 button to temporarily rise the radio transmitting power to the 5W maximum. After channel change, the setting is reset to the default. |
| Set direct TX | If a repeated channel is selected, a - or a + symbol is displayed under the channel name. If you need to bypass the repeater and have a direct communication, ● long push the lateral F2 button to temporarily set a direct communication without repeater on the selected channel. A D symbol appears under the channel name. After channel change, the setting is reset to the default. |

In single reception mode, the radio receives only the communications from the channel that is shown on the screen.
If you ○ push the PTT button, the radio transmits to that same channel.
In dual reception mode, two channels are shown on the screen. The radio receives the communications from both channels.
If you ○ push the PTT button, the radio transmits to the selected channel that shows the ► symbol. You can select the other channel, by ● long pushing the 2 A/B button of the keyboard.
After 30 minutes of inactivity the radio enters powersave mode. The screen blinks for 10 seconds, then it is switched off. During powersave mode the red led is blinking, and the radio listens for incoming communications every 2 seconds.
When you push any button or receive an incoming communication, the radio exits the powersave mode.
