Install
Homebrew (recommended)
brew install emgeorrk/tap/pulse
ln -sfn "$(brew --prefix)/opt/pulse/Pulse.app" /Applications/Pulse.app
open /Applications/Pulse.appCompiled from source, so macOS never quarantines it — no Gatekeeper
prompt, no flags. The second line links it into /Applications; update
later with brew upgrade pulse.
Manual download
-
Download the
.zipbelow and unzip it. -
Move
Pulse.appto/Applications. -
Remove the quarantine flag, then open it:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Pulse.app open /Applications/Pulse.app
Pulse looks in your menu bar — it has no Dock icon. Quit via "Quit Pulse"
in its dropdown.
The prebuilt
.zipis ad-hoc signed, not notarized (no paid Apple
Developer account), so a downloaded copy is quarantined and needs the
xattrstep. It is not malware — the full source is in this repo, and
the Homebrew formula above avoids the step by building locally.
Notes
- Apple Silicon only. Intel Macs are not supported by this binary;
build from source instead. The Intel sensor paths were written from
references and have not been verified on real Intel hardware. - Requires macOS 12 (Monterey) or newer.
