A native macOS menu bar system monitor. Apple Silicon (arm64) only.

What's changed

  • Added new Vitals-parity metrics, public IP with country flag, and distinct per-metric icons
  • Added a Fixed width option so the menu bar item no longer resizes as values change
  • Added explanatory tooltips for non-obvious metrics, with a toggle to hide them
  • Reorganized the Settings menu into cleaner value-titled submenus
  • Public IP country flag now displays as an image in the icon-pack styles
  • Battery now shows both system and raw charge percentages
  • Cleaned up raw temperature sensor names for readability
  • Renamed the "Temp" group to "Temperature" and the "Open Activity Monitor" button to "Activity Monitor"
  • Added an exit icon to the Quit Pulse menu item
  • Added a new minimalist heart app icon

Install

Homebrew (recommended)

brew install emgeorrk/tap/pulse
ln -sfn "$(brew --prefix)/opt/pulse/Pulse.app" /Applications/Pulse.app
open /Applications/Pulse.app

Compiled from source, so macOS never quarantines it — no Gatekeeper
prompt, no flags. The second line links it into /Applications; update
later with brew upgrade pulse.

Manual download

  1. Download the .zip below and unzip it.

  2. Move Pulse.app to /Applications.

  3. Remove the quarantine flag, then open it:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Pulse.app
    open /Applications/Pulse.app

Pulse looks in your menu bar — it has no Dock icon. Quit via "Quit Pulse"
in its dropdown.

The prebuilt .zip is ad-hoc signed, not notarized (no paid Apple
Developer account), so a downloaded copy is quarantined and needs the
xattr step. It is not malware — the full source is in this repo, and
the Homebrew formula above avoids the step by building locally.

Notes

  • Apple Silicon only. Intel Macs are not supported by this binary;
build from source instead. The Intel sensor paths were written from
references and have not been verified on real Intel hardware.
  • Requires macOS 12 (Monterey) or newer.
