Hello Mini 0.3.0

Hello Mini 0.3.0 adds Tiny-screen mode: opt-in 2× sizing for text, icons, controls, and window chrome across all five themes.

• Enable it in Control Panel → Appearance or View → Tiny-screen Mode. The setting is saved and is mutually exclusive with Purist mode.
• Finder offers a Places toggle and compact rows. Print Monitor collapses filters and stacks build rows. Control Panel puts display settings first.
• Custom sheets, startup, and screensavers share the enlarged presentation.
• Bevelled screen edges and rounded corners remain visible in full screen.

Requirements: Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. Download the ZIP, expand it, and move Hello Mini.app to Applications. The app is Developer ID-signed and notarized by Apple. The SHA-256 file and build manifest accompany the ZIP.

Validation and limits: Automated checks and development-Mac visual checks passed, including all five themes at 2×. Physical Wokyis legibility testing is deferred until the device arrives. Native macOS menus, alerts, and file panels retain system sizing, and some dense app views require scrolling. Broader workflow and long-session/display testing remain follow-up work. Standard sizing remains the default.

Hello Mini 0.2.0

• Original synthesised startup, paper-jam, feeding, Wastebasket, and alarm sounds, controlled by one Playfulness switch and normal system volume/mute.
• Background CI polling while Hello Mini runs, a menu bar printer/thermal strip, and Aqua dock attention badges. Historical and duplicate build completions stay quiet.
• Clear jam… for GitHub Actions and GitLab, with one to three sequential retry copies, token permission guidance, stop controls, and conservative handling of uncertain responses.
• Edit → Show Clipboard, and File → Capture Desktop to Scrapbook with a Command-Shift-3 shortcut when macOS delivers it to the app. The macOS screenshot shortcut may take precedence; the menu command is always available.
• Special menu with reviewed Wastebasket cleanup, Hello Mini relaunch, and quit; optional three-flash System 7 menu feedback.
• Key Caps with a US keyboard, shifted characters, a Unicode/emoji palette, click-to-copy, and access to the macOS character viewer.
• Alarm Clock with saved timers, 25-minute focus sessions, 5-minute breaks, and a menu bar alarm that survives closed accessory windows. Overdue timers fire on wake or next launch; sessions advance explicitly.
• Find File with Spotlight file-name search, a tiny dog, folder scope, and Open/Reveal actions; Finder supplies a search button and Command-F.
• A saved 8 × 8 desktop pattern editor in Control Panel, and Finder colour labels that update named macOS tags while preserving unrelated tags.
• Optional Aqua dock magnification, a brief two-hop launch bounce, and System 7 Balloon Help, with native help and accessibility hints retained.

Requires Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. Genie minimisation and additional keyboard layouts remain on the roadmap.

Download Hello-Mini-0.2.0-macos-arm64.zip, expand it, and move Hello Mini.app to Applications. Quit the previous version before replacing it; saved settings and Scrapbook data are retained.

The app is Developer ID-signed and notarized by Apple. The accompanying SHA-256 checksum and build manifest identify the exact archive and source commit.

Validation: local checks and physical-Mac Metal tests passed, as did hosted CI for the release source, hosted CI for the final documentation update, and physical Mini CI. Signature, stapled ticket, Gatekeeper assessment, saved desktop and Scrapbook restoration, native file dialogs, and a timer firing with its accessory closed were verified in the extracted signed app.

Built from 292dc7d, now included in main. Subsequent changes before merge correct two documentation files; the application source and build configuration are identical.

Final merged-main CI passed. The Safari-downloaded app matched the release bundle, retained its quarantine marker, passed Gatekeeper, and launched successfully under macOS App Translocation with saved desktop and Scrapbook data intact.

Hello Mini 0.1.0

Hello Mini is a little Macintosh-inspired desktop with an unreasonable amount of modern machinery inside. This first release includes 15 desk accessories, five themes, and plenty of optional silliness.

• Classic, Paper, Midnight, System 7, and early Aqua appearances; Aqua includes traffic lights and a dock.
• Saved, resizable windows and optional 512 × 384 Purist mode.
• Activity Monitor, Finder, Scrapbook, calculators, clocks, a live desktop puzzle, and small system utilities.
• Print Monitor for GitHub Actions and GitLab, including self-hosted servers. Successful builds can feed the fish.
• Metal Aquarium, Utah Teapot, and Flying Toasters, with optional screensavers and Reduce Motion support.

Install

Requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 26 or later. Download Hello-Mini-0.1.0-macos-arm64.zip, expand it, move Hello Mini.app to Applications, and open it normally. Quit an older copy before replacing it.

The app is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple. The ZIP includes the stapled notarization ticket. The accompanying checksum and source manifest identify this exact build.

Candidate validation

Local automated checks, notarization, signature validation, Gatekeeper assessment, and launching the extracted app have passed. Final merged-main hosted CI and physical Mac Mini CI have passed, including the Mini’s Metal tests. The browser-downloaded notarized candidate was also successfully opened and tested on the Mac Mini.

Notes

CI connections are optional and configured by each user. Homebrew distribution, in-app build artifact downloads, standalone macOS screensaver packaging, and external plugin loading are planned for later. Source code is MIT licensed.
