SINGLE_FILE=1 prevents source map creation

Bug or feature? When setting SINGLE_FILE=1 no source map is being created. Even though -g for compiling to objects and -gsource-map for linking have been set.

I'd appreciate if it did to avoid the hassle of compiling to WASM on the main thread and then sending it to an AudioWorklet.

Perhaps this should be an error, but in SINGLE_FILE mode we do not emit any files on the side, and a source map must be on the side - so those modes can't work together?

For debugging locally with source maps, can you remove SINGLE_FILE just then?

Could you perhaps show me how to get source-maps working with the simple AudioWorklet example web-audio-samples/audio-worklet/design-pattern/wasm from https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/web-audio-samples.git?

It's odd it's going through instantiateSync - it should be async on the web. Perhaps it failed to load the wasm asynchronously? See if there are other errors in the console maybe.

Also, maybe there is something wrong with the larger project there. I'd start by seeing that you can get a simple hello world working with source maps or SINGLE_FILE - getting those working would rule out issues with the browser, or the webserver, etc. You can find examples of them in the test suite that are known to work.

@kripken I'm aware this is a bit old, but having just ran into this - isn't it possible to inline source maps?

@luxaritas There is some notation like this in JS, is that what you mean? //@ source:line I'm not sure of the status of that (is it a standard?). But it would only work for JS and not wasm, I think.

Webpack's inline-source-map just base64 encodes it, like:
