Installation

After you've installed EmuSync on your device, you'll need to set up a storage provider next.

Installation on Windows

  1. Download the Windows Installer.
  2. Run the installer.
    • PLEASE NOTE: I am currently unable to code sign the installer, so SmartScreen may flag it as a risk. To continue with the installation, click More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Choose an install location.
  4. Click Install and wait for the installer to finish.

Updating on Windows

The process is the exact same as installing. Simply download the latest installer and run it to the end.

Installation on Linux

EmuSync has been primarily developed for Steam OS, but it should work on other Linux ditros.1. Switch to Desktop mode

  1. Download the Linux Installer
    • If you want, you can move this to somewhere more accessible like your desktop
  2. Double click on the installer to run it.
    • The installer needs to use sudo to install some services. If your user doesn't have a password set, a temporary password of EmuSync! will be set for the user.
    • This password is removed after the installation exits.
    • Click the Yes button to set the temporary password.
  3. Choose the option Install EmuSync and click OK.
    • If you're updating EmuSync, choose the Update EmuSync option.
  4. Wait for the download and installation to finish, then click OK.
  5. EmuSync is installed to %USER%/EmuSync
    • For the Steam Deck, this will be home/deck/EmuSync.
  6. Launch EmuSync by double clicking EmuSync.AppImage, or use the newly created desktop shortcut.

Updating on Linux

  1. Double click on the installer to run it.
  2. Choose Update EmuSync
    • This will first uninstall EmuSync, when this is complete, click the OK button.
  3. Wait for the download and installation to finish, then click OK.
