Game Compatibility Notes

Wii64 comes in 2 main variants, one built with glN64 and one with the Rice Video plugin.

What's glN64?

glN64 (0.4.1) is what Wii64 uses in the "non Rice" builds. GLideN64 is the successor to this plugin, although it has deviated from it for better compatibility. GLideN64 mostly uses shaders to achieve much better compatibility, but this isn't something Wii64 can use since GX is a mostly fixed graphics pipeline. That being said, it has been a great source for investigating how complex issues were solved and as a result of that I've been able to backport some of it back into glN64 (in GX). It has decent Framebuffer support in Wii64, with things like the CamSpy/motionblur/night vision in PD working, subscreen in Zelda working etc.

What's Rice Video?

Rice Video (6.1.0) is what Wii64 Rice builds use. It's now maintained under mupen64plus-video-rice. It's faster than glN64 because of the way it "batches" geometry internally and can make some games that flicker look better because of the way it can change when a frame ready to be presented (Mario Party, Shadows of the Empire). It currently has no framebuffer support in Wii64 (see Roadmap)
