Add opacity and blur effects to Kitty

What would you like to be added?

Every time I update my dots, I have to manually edit kitty.conf to enable the blur effect. I'd like to include the blur settings directly in kitty.conf, like this:

# Opacity & Blur
background_opacity 0.89
background_blur 1

Alternatively, is it possible to make the update process create a kitty.conf.new file instead of overwriting the existing one?

I think this is more personal than a general feature, which is why so many people have forked these dotfiles and edited them to match their preferences. It's not a feature because not all users will like it, but if they do, they will edit their dotfiles to be whatever they want.

I’m concerned that forking will make updates more complicated. If we adopted an approach where the update creates a kitty.conf.new file, there would be no need for me to maintain a separate fork (especially since it seems kitty.conf hasn't been changed for a long time). Alternatively, adding the blur-related settings but leaving them commented out by default wouldn't negatively affect other users' experience.

@scsfu to fix this you can refer to #3330, i had the same issue, you can add the line hl.window_rule({ match = { class = "kitty" }, opacity = "0.89 override 0.89 override" }) to the ~/.config/hypr/custom/general.lua file

the first value is for your active terminal and the second is for all your inactive terminals, while override is there so that it wont get overridden by any other config files

you can change kitty to any applications you wanna do this for

however, this only make kitty transparent but not blur

I added no_blur and set it to false with opacity ="0.89 override 0.89 override", and it works just fine

My ../custom/rules.lua:
