[Tracking] Make Patternflow community & pattern sharing accessible from every country #184

Description

@engmung

Background

Patternflow is meant to be built by people everywhere — but our community
currently depends on Discord, which is blocked or restricted in several
countries (Iran, Turkey, Russia, China, and more). We've already met makers
from Iran and Turkey who built things with Patternflow but couldn't share
them, because sharing was tied to Discord.

Geography should never decide who gets to participate. This issue tracks
the restructuring of how the community and pattern sharing work.

Goal

No single point of failure. Every core activity — sharing patterns,
showing builds, talking to the community — should have at least one path
that works from anywhere.

Structure

Layer Platform Role
Casual community Discord (unchanged) Chat, hangout, day-to-day talk
Builds & showcase GitHub Discussions Share what you built, from any country
Pattern sharing Patternflow website (new) Upload & browse patterns, no Discord needed

Tasks

Phase 1 — GitHub Discussions as the open door

Phase 2 — Pattern sharing on the website

  • Design pattern submission flow (upload, metadata, preview)
  • Set up backend/server for pattern storage
  • Build browse/gallery page for shared patterns
  • Auto-post new patterns to Discord via webhook (Discord mirrors, never gates)

Phase 3 — Keep the loop connected

  • Cross-link everything: website ↔ GitHub ↔ Discord
  • Document "how to participate without Discord" in the README

Notes

  • Discord stays exactly as it is — this adds doors, it doesn't move anyone.
  • VPN workarounds are not a solution we'll recommend; they carry account
and legal risks for users in restricted countries.

Feedback and ideas welcome below 🙌
