1.0.12
- The spectrum has a new shape, Ribbon: the hills of Waves folded over a line
through the middle and narrowed to a point at both ends, so they float in
the panel instead of filling a box (#10). The low notes swell the middle and
the high ones the sides, and it takes the spectrum's colours, a rainbow
along it included, with the far hills fainter. - New switch on the Card page, Rounded ends: solid and mirrored columns with
round ends, and the peaks as dots. Segments are too short to round and the
waves and the ribbon have no ends, so with those it is greyed out. - A pause no longer snaps the icon to the same resting shape: the columns
fall the way they do when the sound stops and stand where they land, and
cycling colours stop where they are. - Several players in the popup share one surface again: no tile
each, a thin line between them instead. Only a folded row lights up under
the pointer.
1.0.11
- A new icon: grey hills in fog in place of the violet tile.
- The spectrum has a new shape, Waves: the hills of the icon, in its greys,
drifting by and rising with the sound. With Peak markers on, the peaks lift
the far hill. - On the About page the hills drift and rise slowly to a beat. They stand
still when the desktop has animations off. - New switch on the Card page, Follow all sound: the spectrum moves with any
sound, calls and games included, even when nothing is playing, and falls flat
on a pause instead of standing still (#6). It listens whenever the icon is on
screen, so the sound card does not sleep, and before GNOME 50.2 the
microphone indicator stays on. - The moving icon costs the shell less: it steps on a timer of its own instead
of the frame clock, which ran the shell through every frame of the screen. A
new setting on the Card page, Frames a second, sets how often it moves, from
10 to 60, 30 by default; fewer cost less.

1.0.9
- New switch on the Panel page, Player icon: the icon of the app that is
playing, next to the equalizer, or in its place with Icon in the panel
off (#3). - Album art can be turned off on the Card page. The player's icon stands in
for the picture, and nothing is fetched from the web. - The equalizer bars can take the system accent colour, on GNOME 47 and
later. - Right click on the panel button can play or pause, or skip, instead of
opening the menu. The menu still opens from the keyboard. - The controls in the panel can be play and pause alone.
- The About page can put every setting back to its default, after asking.
- The About page starts with the icon and the name, centred, and its QR code
keeps its size instead of filling the width of the page. - A middle click on the panel button no longer acts twice on GNOME 45 to
48, where play or pause undid itself and next skipped two tracks.
1.0.8
- The equalizer and the scrolling titles disconnect from the animations
setting when they are destroyed, as the extensions.gnome.org review asked. - Several players in the popup are separate tiles again. Only a lone card
uses the popup as its background.
1.0.7
- The cover art has rounded corners. St does not clip a picture to the
rounded tile it sits in, so a shader cuts the corners instead. - A shell theme that is light while the system style is dark, or the other
way round, no longer leaves the card with fills and dim text meant for
the other background: the card and the panel button follow the colour of
their own text (#2). - The popup is a single surface instead of a card inside a menu, with the
cover as tall as the text beside it, skip arrows and a slimmer pause
spread over their row, and times that read 01:57 and −01:48 in a
smaller size. The skip buttons in the panel get the same arrows. - A track without an artist or a length keeps the empty row, so the card
stays one size from song to song. - Cover size changes the cover again: medium is as tall as the text, small
and large are a quarter smaller and larger, and a larger cover widens the
card instead of pushing the text out. - The speaker in front of the volume slider mutes, and a second click
brings the level back. - A long title keeps its ellipsis when animations are turned off, and
opening the popup no longer makes Clutter warn about stage views.
1.0.6
- Cover art that a player gives as a web address, the way Spotify does, is
downloaded by the extension itself. The card no longer shows an empty
square while it waits: the old cover, or the player's icon, stays until the
new picture is here. A picture that does not load is asked for twice more
before the card settles for the player's icon, and a wide picture from the
web fills the square the way a local one does. - The right-click menu marks the chosen item with a check mark instead of a
dot. - The spectrum helper starts with the
#!@GJS@ -mline the
extensions.gnome.org review asks of standalone GJS scripts.
1.0.5
- The spectrum helper removes its timeout, stdin watch and bus handlers
before it exits, as the extensions.gnome.org review asked.
1.0.4
- New switch on the Panel page, Icon in the panel. Turn it off and the button
shows only the track, handy next to another visualiser extension. The icon
stays when there is no text. - The panel button has a right-click menu: Always Show in Top Bar, Show When
Active and Don't Show in Top Bar, and Settings to open the preferences. The
Menu key and Shift+F10 open it too. Don't Show in Top Bar hides the button
and the menu with it; the preferences bring it back. The same choice on the
Panel page is called Visibility now and uses the same three names. - A spectrum analyzer: columns that move with the sound itself, lowest notes
on the left, instead of bars that only pretend. A switch in its own group on
the Card page puts it in the top bar in place of the bars, and turning it off
brings the bars back in the style they had. The same group picks the shape
(segments, solid, or mirrored around the middle), the colours (the theme
colour, red at the top, green to red, or a rainbow), eight to thirty-two
columns, peak markers that hold for a moment, and the track next to the
spectrum while it is on, whatever the Panel page says, with the spectrum
kept beside it. The bars on the card follow the sound as well. A small
helper listens to the default output through GStreamer's PulseAudio plugin,
only while the icon is on screen and moving; without the plugin the icon
goes back to pretending. Before GNOME 50.2 the microphone indicator shows
while it listens.
1.0.3
- GNOME Shell 51 is back on the supported list, now that it is out. The card
needed nothing for it: the quick settings menu'sopen()andclose()take
an options object there, and the card closes the menu with no arguments, and
which of the two spellings of a box's axis to use has been read off the shell
version since 48. - The nested test stand runs on 51 as well.
Clutter.get_default_backend()is
gone there, so the probe's virtual pointer takes the backend off the stage's
context when the old call is not around.
