This is the first major release as it may potentially cause checksum validation issues, although tests have been put into place to catch these if they do occur.

The follow changes were made for this release:

  • _data_integrity_check() in socket.py has been dramatically refactored to remove redundant operations.
  • All functions in socket.py are now public functions so that they can be used in unit tests.
  • A new unit test has been added to test_socket.py for validating checksum checks.
  • Previous test cases in test_format.py have been refactored to be more succinct.
