v2.1.5
π The release that makes rolling back safe
2.2.0 is coming soon as a beta, carrying a big database rebuild. 2.1.5 is the version you'd
come back to if you try it and want out β so this release makes that path safe, and makes the
numbers you see honest along the way.
β¨ What's new
- If you ever roll back from a newer version, the app now tells you on screen that recording
is paused, names the exact backup to restore, and DATABASE.md
walks you through it. Your settings survive the round trip too, including aconfig.json.bak
kept before anything touches them. - Backup folders are safe. The updater's cleanup now only deletes folders it created itself β
a rollback copy kept beside a portable install survives every launch. - Honest numbers. Light traffic shows as
0.02 Mbpsinstead of0.0, boundary speeds no
longer render as1000.0 Kbps, 10 GbE promotes to10.0 Gbps, and SMART mode's coverage
and totals in exports are finally correct. - Smaller database. A compaction that could never actually run now does β the maintainer's own
install went from 53 MB to 3.7 MB on first launch, with nothing deleted. - Italian. 15 languages now, thanks to Mirko (@parmacvn-beep).
- Two small Monitor fixes. Hovering the graph now shows a readout on every tab, not just the
combined Hardware view; and a CPU "temperature" that never moves (a firmware placeholder some
boards report as 17 Β°C or 27 Β°C) is no longer shown as if it were real. - Store and winget installs start the app. A silent install used to leave NetSpeedTray closed
until your next sign-in; now it starts right away, and upgrades over a running copy no longer stall. - More private logs. Network adapter names (often renamed to personal labels) are replaced
with stable pseudonyms in logs and support bundles, andprivacy.mdnow describes exactly
what the app records and scrubs.
π¬ Also on the Microsoft Store
NetSpeedTray is now on the Microsoft Store β
the same signed installer and the same free app. It's the only official listing there.
π About that beta
The in-app updater never offers prereleases β that's new, and deliberate. When the 2.2.0 beta
opens, it'll be announced in a pinned issue; trying it will always be your call.
