v0.5.0

Main Features

  • Added per-application layouts and automatic switching for Macropad v2 and v3 on compatible firmware, with editable presets, application categories, and background operation while another keyboard is selected
  • Added cross-tab keycode search, including localized descriptions, custom keycodes, named Macro and Tap Dance slots, and Universal Symbols
  • Added headless --export-layout for scripted .entlayout backups, with device selection and read-only keyboard access
  • Added local Show/Hide Keys editing per keyboard, preserved in layout backups and exported images
  • Extended layout backups to include compatible module settings and, on supported Macropads, Default and all application layouts together with their shared resources

Improvements

  • Added category icons to picker tabs and grouped top menus, with keyboard and screen-reader support for picker controls
  • Added a shared, grouped Macropad icon catalog and automatic persistence of Default layout assignments
  • Added Linux .deb, .rpm, and Arch package build targets and a pinned container build path, with shared desktop integration and package checks
  • Added expanded Text Expander rule editing and Linux IBus source reinstall and removal controls
  • Added English and Russian labels and tooltips for the K:04 auto-layer threshold setting
  • Improved encoder settings for K:03 and Imperial44, layer-name editing during loading, and layout editor spacing

Fixes

  • Corrected RMK unlock completion confirmation and Vial protected-page access, cancellation, and return navigation
  • Allowed macOS Bluetooth HID connections after stale permission preflight results while preserving actual permission-denial guidance
  • Accepted Option-modified text in Typing Trainer and removed blocking System Events lookups from macOS Text Expander settings and typing callbacks
  • Aligned Vial alternate layouts, retained matching older-backup assignments, and added readable tri-layer labels
  • Preserved Macropad Default edits and custom pictograms, isolated background switching from the selected keyboard, and improved backup validation and recovery after failed transfers
  • Preserved Entropy's native X11 window identity and corrected legacy application profiles mislabeled as Vial

Downloads

  • Linux x86_64: download the .AppImage, make it executable, and run it. This official Release-workflow build requires glibc 2.39 or newer; it is host-built, not the pinned Debian container build. Native .deb, .rpm and Arch package build targets are available in the source but are not attached to this release.
  • Windows x86_64: download and run the portable .exe. Microsoft Visual C++ v14 x64 Redistributable is required. The executable is not Authenticode-signed.
  • macOS: download the .dmg matching your Mac (arm64 for Apple Silicon, x86_64 for Intel), and drag Entropy to Applications. Minimum OS: macOS 11 for ARM64, macOS 10.15 for Intel. The app is signed with the stable project self-signed certificate, not Apple Developer ID, and is not notarized. Open the DMG, drag Entropy onto the Applications link, then launch the installed app. If macOS blocks it, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway. Download from GitHub: Telegram-delivered copies may receive a stricter quarantine flag and fail to open.
  • SHA256SUMS.txt contains SHA-256 checksums for all four downloads.

The original four platform builds passed on release commit ad64fa8b. Linux GUI startup was smoke-tested under an isolated display; native Windows/macOS execution and physical-device validation of the full release matrix were not performed.

Windows asset refresh — PR #191

  • Replaced only entropy-v0.5.0-windows-x86_64.exe with the Windows CI build for merged source 3f540010d7b6d7e8311dbcecb8dd580868200d9c from Build run 38764429513. The CI synthetic merge checkout has the identical source tree; embedded version remains 0.5.0.
  • Fixed Macropad layer renaming during application metadata refresh and preserved pending names when metadata changes the active/editor profile. Windows validation of this fix was reported successful by Evgeny; this does not establish physical-device validation of the full release matrix.
  • Updated SHA256SUMS.txt. At that Windows refresh, Linux and both macOS downloads were left unchanged. Tag v0.5.0 remains at the original release source ad64fa8bee323490e713ecbed042df3ebaa5d6a7; it was not moved to the refreshed Windows source.

macOS asset refresh — PR #195

  • Replaced both macOS DMGs with the original signed artifacts from source 485bdffd8a3469060618aba62907ca99b893ce51, built by signing validation run 38905864379. Embedded version remains 0.5.0.
  • Both Apple Silicon and Intel native jobs passed real certificate import, executable/bundle signature and designated-requirement checks, readonly-mounted DMG architecture/signature verification, Applications-link checks, and temporary-keychain cleanup. This is self-signing, not Apple notarization.
  • Evgeny reported successful installation and launch of the GitHub-downloaded ARM64 build on macOS 26.6.2. Intel user-machine launch and permission retention across distinct signed updates remain unverified.
  • Updated SHA256SUMS.txt. Windows and Linux downloads are unchanged. Tag v0.5.0 remains at the original release source ad64fa8bee323490e713ecbed042df3ebaa5d6a7; no tag was moved.
