Release list
TaskPilot 0.4.0
What's new
- The Containers tab is now VMs & Containers. It marks virtual machines, including VM-in-container images such as dockur/windows, lists every Docker context, and can start, stop, restart and remove containers owned by root.
- Root-owned Docker and Podman containers are listed without a password prompt in the active desktop session, because listing is read-only. Controlling them still asks for an administrator password.
- Running Incus/LXD instances show their memory use.
- Disabled instances of templated services (
name@instance.service) stay listed in Services. - Builds again with Qt 6.5 through 6.9, not only 6.10.
Install
Pick the package built for your distro:
| Distro | Install with |
|---|---|
| Kubuntu/Ubuntu 26.04 | sudo apt install ./taskpilot_0.4.0_ubuntu-26.04_amd64.deb |
| Debian 13 | sudo apt install ./taskpilot_0.4.0_debian-13_amd64.deb |
| Fedora 44 | sudo dnf install ./taskpilot-0.4.0-1.fc44.x86_64.rpm |
| openSUSE Tumbleweed | sudo zypper install --allow-unsigned-rpm ./taskpilot-0.4.0-1.opensuse-tumbleweed.x86_64.rpm |
| Arch Linux | sudo pacman -U ./taskpilot-0.4.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst |
Then launch taskpilot or find it in your application menu. Each package was built on its distro and test-installed in a fresh container. SHA256SUMS lists the checksums. On other distros, build from source (see the README).
TaskPilot 0.3.0
First packaged release of TaskPilot — a KDE/Qt6 system task manager for systemd services & timers, mounts, cron, autostart, ports, journal, snaps, containers and sessions.
Install (Debian/Ubuntu)
sudo apt install ./taskpilot_0.3.0_amd64.deb
Then launch taskpilot or find it in your application menu.
Note: this .deb is built against current KDE Frameworks 6 / Qt 6.10+ (e.g. Kubuntu 26.04). On other distros/versions, build from source (see the README). Privileged actions go through a polkit-gated KAuth helper, so you're only prompted when an action needs root.
