throttled 0.13 is a robustness release: stricter configuration and MSR validation, safer MMIO handling, D-Bus recovery fixes, monitor corrections and new hardware support.
Highlights:
- MCHBAR power-limit writes are now gated behind a PCI host-bridge allowlist (#409). On bridges that are not known to mirror
PACKAGE_RAPL_LIMITatMCHBAR + 0x59a0, throttled falls back to MSR-only operation instead of guessing a/dev/memaddress. Comet Lake-H (9b54, #427) and Comet Lake-U (9b61, #428) bridges are included. If your power limits regress, please open an issue with the output oflspci -nn -s 00:00.0. - Configuration validation: unencodable undervolt offsets, package power limits (including zero-tick limits), IccMax fields and malformed booleans or trip temperatures are rejected or disabled with a clear message instead of being written or crashing the daemon (#402, #405, #408, #410, #411, #412, #413, #419, #421).
Enabledis now a real hardware barrier (#404); HWP preserves per-CPU request fields and respects the current power source (#403, #422).- Power source detection checks every matching AC adapter (#407).
- D-Bus: unexpected bus disconnects are surfaced and fatal errors preserve the exit status so the service manager can restart the daemon; resume signals are honoured with autoreload enabled (#414, #415, #420).
- Monitor: handles unsupported undervolt/IccMax, avoids double-counting graphics power, probes optional RAPL domains and uses the fixed DRAM energy unit on server CPUs (#406, #418, #423, #425); invalid
--monitorintervals are rejected (#416). install.shresolvespython3fromPATH(#417); the obsolete in-tree Arch recipe was removed (#424).- New CPU support: Panther Lake.
Thanks to @ooonea and @Arondight for the contributions.
Packages follow the 0.12.2 layout: DEB and RPM ship a systemd unit, APK ships an OpenRC service. The DEB enables and restarts the service automatically; RPM and APK leave enablement to the administrator. All artifacts are covered by SHA256SUMS.
