Quillote 0.1.0

The first public beta. A tiny Markdown and code editor with a real Live mode.

Downloads

  • macOS: Quillote_0.1.0_universal.dmg, 5.2 MB. Apple Silicon and Intel, macOS 10.13 or later. The beta is unsigned, so right-click the app and choose Open the first time.
  • Android: Quillote_0.1.0_arm64.apk, 7.2 MB. Android 7.0 (API 24) or later, arm64. Signed and ready to sideload. The Play Store rollout is next.
  • Android App Bundle: app-universal-release.aab, 5.0 MB. Signed with the upload key. This is the file for Play Console, not a direct install.
  • iPhone: the archive is App Store-signed. TestFlight and App Store review are the next step. There is no public IPA in this release.
  • Linux: Quillote_0.1.0_amd64.deb and Quillote-0.1.0-1.x86_64.rpm, 2.9 MB each. Built by CI from the same source. Unsigned in the beta.
  • Windows: Quillote_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe (NSIS) and Quillote_0.1.0_x64_en-US.msi, 2.1 MB and 2.6 MB. Built by CI. Unsigned in the beta, so SmartScreen will warn.

What is in it

  • Source, Live and Read for Markdown. Live styles headings, emphasis, code and links in the buffer you are typing in. The Markdown stays on disk.
  • Read renders tables, KaTeX math, links and images. KaTeX loads only when a document needs it.
  • Around 100 code languages with lazy highlighting, line numbers, word wrap and language detection.
  • Night and Ink themes. Night is the first-run default; System, Light and Dark are explicit choices.
  • Crash snapshots every five seconds while the buffer is dirty. Autosave is off on desktop and on for mobile.
  • A filtered, single-select file picker on every platform. Mobile files copy into the app sandbox and leave through the share sheet.
  • No account, no analytics, no telemetry, no update check.

Limits

  • The direct macOS DMG is unsigned. Developer ID signing and notarization come next.
  • The Mac App Store build needs App Sandbox entitlements and security-scoped bookmarks for recents. It is not in this beta.
  • Live is an editor, not a preview pane. Tables and math wait for Read.
  • CSV and TSV open as plain text with spreadsheet-oriented highlighting. A read-only table preview is a candidate for 1.1.
  • Windows and Linux installers are unsigned. Expect SmartScreen on Windows and a package warning on Linux. The AppImage is not shipped: bundling WebKitGTK pushed it to 82 MB, over the 10 MB installer budget. The .deb and .rpm use the system WebKitGTK and stay under 3 MB.
