MediaRescue v1.0.3 introduces a new immersive media preview experience designed for fast browsing and rescuing discovered files.

🆘 Double-Tap Rescue
Double-tap any supported media to quickly rescue it.
The rescue process:
- Determines the configured rescue destination
- Copies the original file
- Verifies the copied file
- Updates Android media indexing
- Shows rescue confirmation
- Keeps the original untouched until the user decides what to do
No automatic deletion happens during rescue.
🛡️ Safer Original File Handling
After a successful rescue, users can choose:
- Keep Original
- Delete Original
The original file is deleted only after the rescued copy has been verified.
If deletion fails, the rescued copy is preserved and the user receives a clear message.
📂 Rescue Destinations
The preview now works with the configured Rescue Destination system.
Supported destination patterns include:
- One destination for all files
- Separate destinations for images
- Separate destinations for videos
- Separate destinations for audio
- Separate destinations for other files
The preview does not hard-code a single rescue location.
ℹ️ Detailed File Information
The new Info interface provides available metadata for supported files.
Images:
- Filename
- File size
- Resolution
- Format
- MIME type
- Original path
- Modified date
- Creation date when available

Unavailable information is displayed as Unavailable rather than causing errors.
📅 File Details
The normal preview interface now displays:
- Current filename
- Modified date
- Media position
Long filenames are truncated while preserving the file extension when practical.
👆 Long-Press Actions
Long pressing media provides access to supported file actions, including:
- Rescue
- Copy
- Move
- File information
- Share
- Open file location
- Delete
Destructive actions require confirmation.
🖥️ Clean Fullscreen
Video previews support a clean fullscreen mode.
Pinch inward to hide unnecessary interface elements and maximize the media viewing area.
Essential playback controls remain available.
Pinch outward restores the normal preview interface.
Image pinch gestures continue to provide normal image zoom and panning.
⚡ Performance
The new viewer is designed for large media collections.
- Nearby media is prioritized
- Distant video resources are released
- Large images and videos are handled carefully
- Player resources are reused where appropriate
- Rapid vertical navigation is supported
- Memory usage is controlled to reduce crashes and UI freezes
🧭 Improved Navigation
- System back button works correctly from the preview
- Overlays and dialogs close before leaving the preview
- Fullscreen state is handled correctly
- Navigation between media keeps playback state consistent
🛠️ Broken File Handling
If MediaRescue cannot preview an image or video, the app now shows a clear error instead of crashing.
Supported actions remain available where possible:
- File information
- Rescue
- Copy
- Move
- Open file location
A broken preview does not prevent the user from rescuing the file.
📡 Android Media Indexing
Rescued media is properly registered with Android's media system so supported files appear in normal gallery and media applications.
