How to get MQTT updates working in the weeWX Weather App

Install the Aggregated Values extension

sudo weectl extension install -y https://github.com/evilbunny2008/AggregatedValues/archive/refs/tags/1.0.1.zip

Then modify your weewx.conf file, copy from the sample weewx.conf configuration stanza that exposes all currently supported values in the app.

Next, install the Since Last Archive Accumulator extension, this tracks rain amounts between archive records.

sudo weectl extension install -y https://github.com/evilbunny2008/SinceLastArchiveAccumulator/archive/refs/tags/0.0.2.zip

Next, install the MQTT Publish extension

sudo weectl extension install -y https://github.com/evilbunny2008/MQTTPublish/archive/refs/tags/2.0.0.zip

Then modify your weewx.conf file, copy from the sample weewx.conf configuration stanza that exposes all currently supported values in the app.

Then restart weeWX

sudo systemctl restart weewx.service

Now update the inigo-settings.txt file with your MQTT server details, if you allow anonymous users to connect leave off the username and password

mqtt-url=wss://<mqtt-username>:<mqtt-password>@<mqtt-hostanme>
mqtt-topic=website/stats,website/archive,website/loop

Finally in the app open the settings section and then click "Save Settings" and when the screen has reloaded if everything went ok the date/time on the home screen should update every time a new loop packet from your weather station is published to your MQTT server, which can be as often as every 2 seconds.

Debugging MQTT problems

If the date/time isn't updating, you may need to check what's being published to your MQTT server, I recommend MQTT Explorer as it's a free cross platform tool that can show data that's been published to various topics.
