Fleck 1.1.2-beta.2 — the first public Developer Preview

Fleck is a native, local-first macOS notes workspace that lives in your menu bar: quick
capture, focused rich-text editing, Apple on-device dictation, and optional local agent
access. No account, no cloud, no telemetry — your notes stay in readable local storage.

Preview means preview. This is an evaluation milestone, not a stable release.
Interfaces and storage formats may still change between previews.

What's in this version

  • Real editing: AppKit rich-text editor with native undo/redo, headings, Quote and
    Code styles, alignment, line spacing, spacing before/after, real numbered/bulleted
    lists, superscript/subscript, copy/paste formatting, and Unicode-aware case conversion.
  • Notes, links, images: [[note links]] with automatic backlinks, guarded web links,
    and inline images dragged from Finder (up to 100 MiB / 100 M px, 320 pt display cap).
  • Find and search: Find & Replace inside a note (⌥⌘F, ⇧⌥⌘F, ⌘G, ⇧⌘G) and
    workspace-wide search (⌘F) that is case- and accent-insensitive — cafe finds Café.
  • On-device dictation: Apple speech recognition with personal-dictionary handling,
    local text history, and safe Smart Capture routing. Speech stays on your Mac.
  • Agent Connector (optional): a separate local helper installed from Settings, with
    explicit per-note/per-folder grants, visible activity, and Undo. The app never grants
    itself access.
  • Polish: settings search, folder creation and tabs, anchored resizable menu panel,
    compact toolbar with padded controls, inline images, and the accumulated editor and
    accessibility fixes through #58.

Install (about 3 minutes)

  1. Download the ZIP below and verify it against the SHA-256 checksum.
  2. Extract, then drag Fleck 1.1.2-beta.2 Build 84.app into Applications.
  3. Important: this build is signed locally but not notarized with an Apple
    Developer ID    , so macOS may warn that it "cannot verify the developer." When it
    does: right-click (Control-click) the app → Open → Open. Do not disable
    Gatekeeper.
  4. Fleck is a menu-bar app: click the four-tile mark on the right side of the menu
    bar. There is no Dock icon. Settings search and the on-boarding tour are in the full
    release notes below.

System requirements

  • macOS 14 or later (declared minimum), Apple silicon. Intel and a full macOS 14
    native pass are not yet verified.
  • The experimental "Enhanced Local" speech and language-model graphs are not
    included in this release.

Known preview limitations

  • Developer Preview: interfaces and storage formats may change.
  • Inline images are local file references; image content is not embedded in exports.
  • No in-app onboarding, cloud sync, account service, or real-time collaboration.

Verification

  • Passed the full ordinary graph (2,543 tests in 37 suites) and Enhanced Local graph
    (2,754 tests in 40 suites) in hosted CI, plus packaging, model-asset-exclusion,
    no-launch, signature, and bundle validation.
