Spriglet 0.2.0-preview.2 · Acorn Hopper download
0.2.0-preview.2 — Acorn Hopper download
2026-09-15 · App 0.2.0 · Build 4
A tiny Acorn Hopper companion, shared app and website content, and installable preview downloads.
Download the LOCAL-UNSIGNED DMG or ZIP for Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. This preview has an ad hoc signature, no Developer ID certificate, and no Apple notarization; macOS Gatekeeper may block it. Xcode is only needed to build from source.
Added
- Privacy Policy and support entries in the menu and Settings, an offline privacy policy, bundled MIT license, and visible app version and build.
- Editable small character proofs and a native candidate comparison tool.
- Mac App Store listing copy, submission instructions, unsigned and team-signed Xcode archive preparation, local archive and screenshot validation, and CI coverage for unsigned archive rehearsal.
- Support and privacy pages for meetspriglet.com, a reproducible Cloudflare deployment, public HTTP checks, and support@meetspriglet.com for support and privacy requests. Product page design and mailbox activation remain pending.
- One shared source for app and website branding, contact details, privacy, help, and control labels; automatic synchronization during app builds, icon export, and Cloudflare builds; offline Help & Support in the app.
- Private security reporting, credential-file guards, checksum-pinned history and workflow scanning, CodeQL analysis, and dependency update automation for the public repository.
- Isolated Cloudflare PR previews, protected production deployment, artifact safety checks, preview cleanup, retained-build rollback, and public website availability checks.
- Installable DMG and ZIP previews built and verified in GitHub Actions, with drag-to-Applications installation, SHA-256 checksums, and exact source/version checks before release publication.
Changed
- Acorn Hopper is the only bundled pet: 194 original Blender frames, a 96-point standard canvas, seven finite clips, and authored hop, pet, nap, and wake transitions. New pets default to Acorn; saved names and settings are preserved.
- Refreshed clay-style app icon shared with the generated website.
Fixed
- Declared elapsed-time diagnostics in the privacy manifest and added the Mac App Store category and encryption metadata.
- Included shared app labels in all standalone runtime validation builds and source snapshots; CI now also compiles the desktop interaction harness.
Known limitations
- App Store signing, store metadata, screenshots, and final device acceptance remain required before submission.
- The downloadable preview is not Developer ID signed or notarized. Normal Gatekeeper acceptance and signed release testing require Apple Developer Program credentials.
- VoiceOver speech, actual sleep/wake, launch-at-login, and sustained battery use still need final device acceptance.
Spriglet 0.2.0-preview.1 · Everyday companion
0.2.0-preview.1 — Everyday companion
2026-09-14 · App 0.2.0 · Build 3
Native Settings, personal touches, purposeful strolls, firefly play, and optional sound and launch at login.
Source preview for Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. Build with full Xcode; a signed, notarized app download is not included.
Added
- Native Settings with Companion, Desktop, and General tabs, plus a compact leaf menu and a first-run Quick Guide.
- A saved companion name with bounded, normalized input, and a readable description of its stable curiosity, sociability, and playfulness traits.
- Small, Standard, and Large display sizes, with animation travel, firefly placement, dragging, and hit testing scaled with the character.
- Quiet, Balanced, and Lively activity levels, an Automatic Moments control, and Parked Mode enabled by default.
- Finite observe, greet, explore, nap, wake, and firefly routines. Optional excursions stay on one display and return to their starting position.
- Interactive firefly play: Sprout watches and catches a glow, settles, and walks home when strolling is allowed. Parked play stays in place.
- Bounded local interaction memory that gently influences routine selection and retains recent preferences without recording desktop activity.
- Optional short petting and play chimes, an explicit Preview Sound action, and original generated audio under the MIT license. Sound starts off.
- An opt-in Launch at Login control using macOS registration status, including pending-approval and unavailable states and a link to Login Items settings.
- App-scoped keyboard commands for petting, firefly play, parking, pause, visibility, short walks, home, and directional placement.
- Native accessibility labels, state values, a primary petting action, and custom actions for play, pause, parking, placement, and Settings.
- A separate Developer Diagnostics window, available in Debug builds or through the --diagnostics launch option.
- Versioned release notes shared by the public changelog, GitHub releases, and a bundled JSON resource for a future in-app What's New view.
- Tag-triggered release publishing after CI, with checks for matching versions, build numbers, changelog content, and bundled release notes.
Changed
- Everyday controls now focus on the companion; the earlier prototype controls and technical measurements have moved out of the normal Settings flow.
- The Quick Guide opens Settings after Get Started, remembers completion, and can be reopened from the menu.
- Behavior planning now combines stable traits, recent interactions, activity level, parking, Low Power Mode, and Reduce Motion while keeping routines finite.
- Sound is limited to deliberate interactions or preview requests. Diagnostic and temporary review copies cannot change login registration.
- The public repository now contains app code, required artwork, reusable validators, and public instructions. Local notes, review exports, and machine reports remain ignored.
- Expanded validation covers personality routines, native size and accessibility providers, display placement, sound resources, and silent login/sound adapters; CI also checks public Git history.
Removed
- The legacy PrototypeView and everyday diagnostic rows, replaced by native Settings and the dedicated diagnostics window.
Fixed
- Grounded outward and return walks preserve fractional desktop placement and keep each displayed pose paired with its corresponding window movement.
- Changing pet size preserves its grounded placement and cancels active motion or dragging before applying the new dimensions.
- Pause, hide, parking, drag, display changes, and system unavailability cancel or replace incompatible routine work and clear the firefly when appropriate.
- Desktop interaction handling better distinguishes opaque pet areas from transparent margins, preserves focus during ordinary pet interaction, and releases cancelled drag state.
- Display placement fallback keeps saved home information when a display is unavailable instead of treating a temporary fallback as a new home.
- Preference decoding handles missing or malformed values, preserves existing choices, and keeps temporary review and validation settings isolated from normal use.
Known limitations
- This remains a source preview with one character and a finite animation library; signed distribution and sustained battery profiling are still ahead.
- Transparent window margins can affect underlying clicks. Pass Clicks Through is available, and Hide Pet can be used over full-screen apps.
- Broader desktop configurations, spoken VoiceOver/rotor review, real login registration and the next-login launch, and actual Mac sleep/wake still need manual acceptance testing.
Spriglet 0.1.0 Public Preview
Spriglet brings a little quiet company to your Mac. Meet Sprout: a soft, leaf-eared companion that rests, walks, reacts to petting, and settles beside your work.
This is a source preview for Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later. Build it with full Xcode using the README instructions. A signed, notarized app download is not included yet.
- One playable character sample, with grounded walks in both directions, petting, dragging, quiet behavior, and pause/hide controls.
- A native first-run welcome and compact controls, with a GitHub Copilot CLI contribution.
- Editable Blender character, rig, lighting, animation pipeline, and app icon.
- MIT licensing for code and artwork. No account, analytics, desktop capture, or server.
The attached MP4 and GIF show the animation assets and motion data over light and dark backgrounds. They are animation asset demos rather than desktop recordings.
See the character pipeline and validation commands to reproduce and check the sample. Build, test, privacy, and usage information is in the repository README.
The full animation library, wider desktop compatibility testing, sustained battery profiling, and signed distribution are still ahead.
