cold-email

A Claude Code skill that runs the full f13i cold-outreach system — warm-signal check, hook, draft, grade, refine.

Grades every email as the recipient would. Won't let you send below a B.

cold-outreach · sales · copywriting · prospecting

What it is

The complete outreach workflow I use to write cold emails for consulting prospects, encoded as a skill. It doesn't just draft — it checks for warm signals first, picks a hook, drafts in a practitioner's voice, then grades the result against a hard rubric and refuses to hand you anything mediocre.

Everyone's got a pricing opinion. Almost nobody has pricing data.

What it does

  1. Warm-signal check — always first. Scans Granola, Calendar, Gmail, and the vault for any existing relationship. If it finds one, the email must open on that specific moment, not a generic insight.
  2. Research the prospect. Their pricing page, their public footprint — and if it's from a job posting, the hiring pain in the JD becomes the hook.
  3. Hook selection. One hook, chosen from what the research surfaced: bug, left-on-the-table, competitive gap, or JD signal.
  4. Draft. Short sentences, contractions, no hedging, no consulting jargon. Sound like a practitioner, not a vendor.
  5. Grade as the recipient. A+ down to B — and do not send below a B. If it grades low, it gets fixed and re-graded before you ever see the final.

Use it

In Claude Code, trigger it with "write a cold email to [prospect]," "grade this draft," or by sharing a job posting for a pricing role (it runs the JD-to-client playbook). It reports which research legs succeeded — a partial result that names the missing source beats a clean-looking one that quietly dropped it.

Install

git clone https://github.com/f13i/cold-email.git \
  ~/.claude/skills/cold-email

Then invoke it by describing an outreach task, or by name.

This is one skill from f13i-cli — the AI chief-of-staff I use to run f13i, my SaaS pricing consultancy. It's published as a reference architecture: written against my own vault and tooling, with all client and personal details replaced by placeholders. My pricing background is four years at Grafana Labs (previously — Sr. Manager, Commercialization & Pricing); the system here is my own.
