The SvxLink Image with New Dark/Light Mode Main status page

SvxLink-Dash-V3 is a Raspberry Pi focused SvxLink (SM0SVX - Ver. 26.05.1) deployment and management package.

It provides a browser-based configuration dashboard for building simplex or repeater nodes without manually editing the main SvxLink configuration files. It includes the possibility of multi-port operation. A maximum of two USB Devices can be deployed. The ICS software options are for the ics-ctrls.com boards 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x. The 4x and 8x boards are not yet finalised in the area of the sound input and output.

The package installs and manages a complete SvxLink operating environment with OS (64bit), interface selection, audio setup, squelch/PTT control, reflector connection, EchoLink, METAR, courtesy tones, repeater tones, language sound packs, Wi-Fi onboarding, hotspot recovery, runtime status monitoring, DTMF control, and log handling.

It is intended to turn a Raspberry Pi, on systems such as Pi Zero 2 W and later, into a repeatable SvxLink appliance. The dashboard builds svxlink.conf, deploys module configuration files, prepares local Tcl event overrides, writes node information, manages selected sound language packs, and restarts services as required.

The system is deliberately opinionated: it supports a known workflow, known sound-pack regions, and known radio interface methods, rather than trying to expose every possible SvxLink option. This makes it more suitable for practical deployment by radio amateurs who want a working node quickly, while still allowing experienced users to inspect and refine the generated configuration.

If you have a Svxlink Node already then ensure you save your EchoLink details, and the Reflector Password before proceeding.
Remember your settings for Squelch and PTT, writing them down, as your current svxlink.conf will not be compatible in the next version.
This is a ready to run - Svxlink Image on Debian 12 64 Bit - Simply Download the Image to a PC and install to a 16 Gb SD Card using Raspbery Pi Imager without unzipping it.


On power up wait a few minutes for the SDCard to become fully populated.

Now browse to svxlink.local:5000/wifi and click on Air Scan to check for other active WiFi signals. Select your own Wifi in the top box and enter the standard password for your wifi and click "Add and Connect". Give a few minutes, and your device and your raspberry pi will join your own wifi system.

Network Users come straight to here, together with the WiFi users. Now at the URL Prompt type svxlink.local:5000 for the first stage of configuring your repeater or hotspot, and follow the menus carefully - You only get one chance to enter the callsign, but everything else can be changed later.

You may move backwards and forwards through the menus to get your configuration right, and even after the construction is complete, you can come back to most of the settings to change them.

When finally you reach the deployment stage, you enter the 'Dashboard' stage, where some further editing is possible to hone your node's capabilities. The language choice is preformed automatically during the build process, where you will see a slight hiatus as the language files are pulled from the external source.

This new dashboard has been constructed in an entirely different way to the previous methods. Absent is the live streaming, but in the new ReflectorMonitor Dashboards on the three SvxReflectors, streaming is already available for the busiest TalkGroups.

One change that is the most user friendly, is that now if an EchoLink contact is made, the callsign of the connected station is displayed in the Dashboard.

In case that you forget your dashboard user and password then you will need to access the terminal with ssh. In the terminal login to the svxlink unit with ssh pi@svxlink.local or with PutTy, and type sudo ./opt/dashboard/tools/reset_dashboard_auth.py and follow the prompt. When done type exit to exit the terminal.

If you have really made a mess and you want to start again, enter the terminal and type at the prompt sudo rm /opt/dashboard/config/node_model.json. Type exit to leave the terminal, and return to the Browser to type svxlink.local:5000 once again.?p>

There is no editable part of the dashboard. If you change any of the other files, then you really will have to start again.

At the moment only en_GB, en_AU and en_US are the supported languages and Reflector Connections are presently limited to UKWide, North America and Australia reflectors in this one family.

The remaining image svxlink.img.gz is version 26.05.1 on 23 bit Bookworm for legacy users and RPi 0W, that is not capable of 64 bit operation.
